If you could sum up Medical School for Everyone in three words, what would they be?
Each chapter focuses on a patient and their presenting compliant, The professor walks the listener through the diagnostic process. Some of the Illnesses you can guess, others come as a surprise. You feel for these people and the doctor and learn a lot along the way. Somethings you pick up might prove useful in the future, such as how to handle an emergency and how to communicate with a doctor, but this is also a highly entertaining listen and well worth a credit.

Excellent course in human origins
Revisado: 06-14-14
Would you listen to Biological Anthropology: An Evolutionary Perspective again? Why?
This is an excellent course. The professor shares a lot of insight into the controversies of this field and her own work with non human primates. She clearly explains the science of evolution and it's terms, like reproductive success ( never look at your children in the same way again! ) I suppose it's hard not to be dated in this field where new discoveries are continually changing our understanding of our origins. If you get this course you'll want to supplement with other material written more recently. There are some books out suitable for the non scientist. At the time of the course they did not know about Neanderthal DNA in modern humans, or the amazing homo florensis. She does anticipate the Neanderthal DNA discovery and it's implications. She is clearly an accomplished researcher and lecturer and if you are interested in this subject this course is a good use of a credit.

Linguistics, the study of language, has a reputation for being complex and inaccessible. But here's a secret: There's a lot that's quirky and intriguing about how human language works-and much of it is downright fun to learn about. But with so many potential avenues of exploration, it can often seem daunting to try to understand it. Where does one even start?

A wild ride
Revisado: 06-14-14
Would you listen to Language A to Z again? Why?
I may well listen to parts of this again it was one of the most entertaining courses I have listened to. This professor seems brilliant and almost hypomanic, with funny asides and facilitating insights into the nature and meaning of language.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Language A to Z?
I loved the part where he speculates about the change in complexity of language on the island of Flores. He makes you hope it's is because of the hobbits, but he offers a less exciting and probably more realistic explanation as well. I also liked hearing him pronounce and talk about the click languages. The origin of the loss of Rs on the east coast and England was also interesting.
Have you listened to any of Professor John McWhorter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have never heard this professor before.
If you could give Language A to Z a new subtitle, what would it be?
A manic romp through the wonderful world of language.

Thank you again audible for including the Great Courses.

Where does 20th-Century American Fiction rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I have listened to many wonderful audiobooks, and this is the best I have heard.
Any additional comments?
Thank you for adding the great courses to Audible. I can't imagine that any of the others will hold a candle to this one however. This series of lectures is insightful, profound, challenging and ultimately uplifting. The last one is more profound than any sermon I've ever heard. I previously read some of these books (like Light in August available as audiobook) and never understood them as I do now. Its understandable for the non english major but not dumbed down. There was so much in it, so much food for thought, I listened to several lectures multiple times.

great book and performance a problem with sequence
Revisado: 10-31-12
Any additional comments?
This book is recorded out of sequence. Earlier parts of the plot are in the second download. later parts are in the earlier download. This really messes up the experience of listening.
