I am a total fan. I didn't want Yellow Crocus to end and Mustard Seed didn't let me down. All characters blossomed for me. This novel was full of action, intensity and true friendship amongst Mattie's family and Lisbeth's family. Let me be clear their immediate family, husbands and children. These women have matured and their friendship is tested. They manage to still support one another even In the most difficult times.

Historia
Moments after Lisbeth is born, she’s taken from her mother and handed over to an enslaved wet nurse, Mattie, a young mother separated from her own infant son in order to care for her tiny charge. Thus begins an intense relationship that will shape both of their lives for decades to come. Though Lisbeth leads a life of privilege, she finds nothing but loneliness in the company of her overwhelmed mother and her distant, slave-owning father.

A Gem

I never post reviews, however I was compelled to write this one. This book was an absolute joy to read. I felt like I connected with Mattie and Lisbeth. Their relationship was more than special, to me it was rare, loving, caring and connected. Reading these types of books can be hard, however once you connect with the characters, you forrget the unkindness of people in the way blacks were treated. You get lost in the love and intense connectuon of Mattie and Lisbeth. If you loved this book just wait, Mustard Seed is just as good if not better. Not sure about the other readers of this book, but I didnt want this story to end. I was overjoyed when i found Mustard Seed.
