Deceptively depraved...
Revisado: 09-27-21
This novel is thought provoking, to say the least. For the lack of character description, we sure as hell got a clear picture of what unhinged looks like.
The characters were not developed in the sense that we got a true feel that we knew them. on any given level. Nor are we even sure of what any one particularly looked like. Like no real idea.
It is this fact that leaves me with pure detachment. That I can leave the characters in the book. It let me know that what I read/listened to was completely farfetched.
The want to know what happened; kept me reading. Not being totally submersed/absorbed in the characters. Or the story even.
It gets the five stars for the cohesiveness it has, though convoluted.

Historia
For centuries, the Dragon Kings have lived among mortals, forsaking their true selves. But for Kelton, hiding in the realm of shadows - and existing only in the world of dreams - is no longer an option. A human woman claims to know that he, like other dark warriors of his kind, is real. That the legends about these powerful, seductive men with hearts ablaze are true. And that, with just one embrace, Kelton could destroy her...or love her until the end of time.

Ugh!! Redundant much? Great book to say the least.
Revisado: 02-03-20
I loved the book. Had very high Hope's. As usual, another great side story within the whole of a broader storyline. I bought the kindle copy at the release date and decided I needed narration.
I only got part way through reading when I stopped to wait for the audio versions release. However, I did read a lot of the reviews. They all seemed to have about the same theme. That other storylines were finally closed out and it is glaringly obvious whom Rhi's king is. 👀 Where?!
This book was more of the same. Im a bit disappointed. This could go on forever. Though I have a strong suspicion, as does the rest of you all in the Dragon King world, that Rhi is Con's mate. But let's get to it already.
Fever was well written, what do you expect?! Donna Grant flew through the back story in this one. 👏🏾 A great read that I'd recommend to those looking for a good fantasy romance to be lost in. Not so much for series type readers.
I mean come on... At what point do you bring the bigger picture to a close?! God forbid something happens to the author or me(us as readers). 17 published, 1 pending short story and 1 pending(full novel) DK novels in, not to mention the 8 books that brought the DK series to the forefront for me, and we are still going. I'm so glad I forced myself not to get trapped in the reaper's series.
I'm ranting/venting now. See how things can drag on. Point is: Donna Grant's publisher/editor should now take the reigns and kill the series. Before she begins to lose fans.

The Struggle...
Revisado: 01-04-20
🤔 Where to begin... The story overall, good read(listen). 👏🏾 The hero was believable and very likeable. Flaws and all.
The heroin, as with her counterparts from the other stories in this series, was illogical and irrational. Like the hero told her, lacking in common sense.
She literally had nonsensical expectations and more than willing to jump to conclusions. Once she didn't get the fairy tale she'd concocted, she was ready to drop the hero for the least of anything.
Funnily, it was her hair-brained idea to propose to Adam. She did not deserve him. As well, Adam did not deserve to have to suffer the heroines mother or any callous treatment.
My word, that mother was vile and disgusting. Contemptible at best. It takes little to see why the father only wanted to find a little happiness for himself. I'd have divorced her too.
Ms. Wright roused these emotions within me and because of that I still gave this read 5⭐s.

Oh my Gawhd, Mouette.
Revisado: 01-03-20
I'm about 75% done with this book, and I must say, Mouette is still not meeting my opinions of a great heroin.
She has no depth of character and her personality is tragic. Purely disgusting.
I'm well aware of the change in times of today and when the book was originally written. It surely makes not a single difference. She did not deserve a standalone book. just my point of view.
I will also admit, that coming into this book, my outlook on Mouette was colored based on her actions(thoughts) in Isabella and then Lindsey's books.
And I have tried to like her. But she only further declined in my esteem playing the "woe is me" bit.
The entitlement is real. She has one redeeming factor: she has retained Izzy as a real friend.
Though Isabella made me side eye her for a brief moment when she gave advice based on her personal experiences with the hero vs looking at the possible separate interactions he may have had with Mouette.
Overall, it is still an awesome story as a side story in the Rakes and Rebel's series. It would be worth the read(listen) based on Justin's HEA.

Revisado: 10-10-18
Totally believable characters. Well thought out and executed. Amelia is a real bitch. And the justification for her actions, reprehensible. She deserved nothing less than pure and unadulterated misery.
Though, I'll never understand the thought processes of another, I question the sanity of the individual who doesn't confront the one they love. Especially with accusations brought from another.
