I really don't see how this book inspired such a wonderful television series. Other that the familiar character names from the show. I had to really struggle to stay interested, then finally gave up about 2/3 through.

The book itself was interesting. Most facts I knew, but there was some new information & some interesting insights. However, I thought the author came across as bitchy & very full of herself. Slamming Mary Austin at every turn & FINALLY concluding that Freddie's great love was.....wait for it....HIMSELF. Really??? After all that. And smugly claiming that only SHE knows Freddie's final resting place. Freddie wanted his burial place kept private, which is his right. By the end, I was glad the book was over. Also, if you're going to narrate a book, please learn the proper pronunciation of people's names.

Overall, I enjoyed the book, although I admit I skipped a chapter or two in the middle when he started to get too full of himself. I always enjoy when the author narrates his own story, but I had one issue. I know it's the way he talks, but I found it irritating/offensive that Kenny needs to drop the F-bomb so often. I feel that it took away from the performance. Overall, though, I enjoyed learning more about Kenny's life & career.

I generally love anything from Mitch Albom. I was so excited for the book to be released & couldn't wait to listen to it. The author reads well, but this book didn't capture me the way that "For One More Day" , "The Timekeeper" or "The Five People You Meet in Heaven " did. I just couldn't get into the story.
