Historia
Your husband learned from an early age to deny his true feelings - and to be silent about his deepest needs. Most men long for greater intimacy with their wives, but they have no idea how to find it. Best-selling author David Murrow breaks the silence, uncovering the central secret of your spouse’s heart. He reveals what every husband since Adam has felt but has been unwilling or unable to say. If you really want to know what’s stored up in your husband’s heart, listen to this audiobook.

Jesus this Jesus that.
Revisado: 12-24-22
An analogy- I dont like raisins. But I do like bread. Unfortunately, the god/man character "Jesus" of Christian mythology was tossed into the dough of this book by the handfuls. Just as I am enjoying the bread, a raisin surfaces, I try to avoid them but soon it seems to be more raisin than bread and what I thought would be a great loaf is now more like fruitcake.
A great read if you enjoy bible passages and Jesus references intermingled with your psychology.

From the age of 14, Caitlin was completely controlled, repeatedly raped, provided with alcohol, given drugs, sold and passed on to new gangs over and over again. The majority of her abusers were Pakistani men, who were blatant in their attacks upon her, often collecting her from school or home, to be taken to flats they owned, family homes, or hotels booked for the day, to be horrifically and systematically abused.

Revisado: 09-01-22
This is a tremendously moving and eye opening memoir of a precious child who was grossly ignored neglected and shamed til she could not escape. I am so happy she is ALIVE! I am so grateful she could share her story and it could help save others!
And the whole thing is narrated by someone who should win an Oscar. Brilliant!

Historia
Janisse Ray grew up in a junkyard along US Highway 1, hidden from Florida-bound vacationers by the hedge at the edge of the road and by hulks of old cars and stacks of blown-out tires. Ecology of a Cracker Childhood tells how a childhood spent in rural isolation and steeped in religious fundamentalism grew into a passion to save the almost vanished longleaf pine ecosystem that once covered the South.

Slash pine ecology lesson meets adorable memoir
Revisado: 05-17-22
If you grew up in Florida, Georgia or Alabama in the 70s around scrubland, marsh and pines you will appreciate this book. Ever sit in a broke down car as a little kid with your friends or siblings and play road trip? what about playing church; pretending to preach to the masses and baptize each other in a rain barrel or with buckets. Going for family drives for something to do on the weekend,, your whole family singing loud with the windows rolled down?
This book was an enjoyable light read full of insight into nature and its links to humanitypast and present.

Good but not Nine Things Successful People Do

So much yada yada
Revisado: 03-26-22
Returning....none of these books I am trying for success in the workplace are good for me.
they lead you around in philosophical circles by the nose. They quiz you on beliefs. They quote studies AND share anecdotes. I have some questions I want answers to.
1. How to communicate in a business like fashion. Like when is it best to use e365 vs. Microsoft teams, vs email. versus phone, versus text, versus in person if your company uses all of these platforms.
2. How to determine how much interpersonal chitchat is too much or too little in different situations and with different people during the work day.
3. What dress, mannerisms, office habits and lunch break habits are best to create that won't make you seem like a hermit but at the same time don't make you seem too chummy, too into fashion, or too casual or too tidy or too careless?
4. Do I close my computer at the work day end or just sign out of it
5.What to do my coworker is doing something that makes me nervous, like stacking things very high or leaving the workplace for hours each day or suggesting I need to go take a break or stop working on something I am in the middle of finishing but when I let them know they are causing me to feel uncomfortable, they ignore me.
6.If I take 5 minutes longer than I should've on my lunch break, is it okay to work 5 minutes later in the day as to make up that time?.
7. if I am going to the beach or a party directly after work, is it bad to change my clothes or curl my hair or touch up my make up inthe company restroom?
I need concise answers and the reasoning behind those answers!

Interesting and nostalgic!
Revisado: 10-07-21
I grew up in an area where people hunted wild turkeys. It was never something myself or my family was ever interested in. This book and it's telling was a real delight.
I got a peek into a passion that hitherto I could have never understood prior to reading this book.
So enjoyable!

Learned so much! And love the childhood stories.
Revisado: 08-31-21
I was surprised that this was narrated by the author, because the delivery took a stilted and stiff tone, when the dialogue, stories and events were anything but. Lots of drama, lots of love, lots of fun and lots of pain...wonderfully written.

Whether offering insight into the rise in home births, the alarming rise in America’s maternal mortality rate, or the history of involuntary sterilization, Karkowsky offers a window into all that pregnancy, labor, and birth can entail - birth and joy, but also challenge and loss - illustrating the complexity of reproductive life and the systems that surround it. With historical insight and journalistic verve, Karkowsky unpacks what is involved for women, for a family, and for us as a society; and explores what’s at risk when these aspects of medicine remain clouded in mystery and misinformation.

Probably the best book I have ever read
Revisado: 03-15-21
Most of my hospital and doctor experiences, though life saving, have been frustrating, humiliating and degrading.
Listening to this book made some of those experiences easier to reflect upon, some of them more enraging than before, and others with deep compassion towards everything and everybody. This book brought me lots of deeper understanding about many aspects of the medical field. I highly recommend! Narration was excellent, too.
