Historia
In the little city of Flint, Michigan, the good die young, and the people left standing are the grimiest of characters. With reign over the city's drug trade, Benjamin Atkins made sure that his precious daughter, Raven, was secluded from the grit that the city had to offer. But when Raven's young heart gets claimed by Mizan, a stick-up kid in search of a come-up, there's nothing Benjamin can do about losing her to the streets.

This truly kept my interest!
Revisado: 04-27-24
This book truly kept my interest! It was recommended to me by my hair stylist and I started listening to it while getting my hair done in her chair. One day later, I’m done with this book and ready to move on to the next suggestion, Epic.
I’ve stopped listening to some of my favorite authors as I’ve gotten older (and gotten divorced) b/c the books just felt like straight porn— regardless of how good the story line was. I worried I’d have the same issue with this book, but I did not. There were some spicy moments, but it wasn’t excessive and it didn’t leave me feeling so hot and bothered that I needed a shower afterwards. It honestly was just the right balance of everything in this book. I’d definitely recommend it to others.

Good read for a huge Whitney fan!
Revisado: 02-15-22
It was good to hear some of the behind the scenes history about Whitney. The book ended kinda abruptly for me— but I guess that’s also how her life ended, so it was to be expected.

So Relatable, even for a 35 yr old nondenominational black girl!
Revisado: 10-26-20
I’m on episode 8 right now and seriously, I’m loving this! I had honestly never heard of the main character (Alison) before this, but “Like Mother” made me look her up, and I’m a fan now. Just downloaded her 2 albums also! Thanks for the amazing work!
