Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Not really a shocker
Revisado: 06-23-19
This book is a little overrated in the sense that it is easy to figure out in the first couple of chapters. It is know for it twists - which aren’t really there.
That being said - the book is well written and kept me listening until the end.

What?!?
Revisado: 06-30-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
It could have been a good suspenseful story.
Would you ever listen to anything by J. T. Ellison again?
Definitely not. This was compared to a Gillian Flynn book and that is definitely not the case. There is no thrill and no suspense to speak of. As a matter of fact, it was Exceptionally predictable.
Which scene was your favorite?
None. There is nothing memorable or unique about this story. It's a cookie cutter novel. Actually it is a lot like a daytime soap opera in print format. Yes! That's exactly what it is!
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from No One Knows?
None.
Any additional comments?
The book is sophomoric and simplistic. The storyline is an arc that is probably used in story writing classes. Or maybe you should never make a comparison to Gillian Flynn. That sets the expectations very high.

Good book
Revisado: 01-09-15
This book was Suspenseful, it kept me interested the whole way through the read. It has a great definition and development of characters. It has a unique storyline that seamlessly guides you through the entire story and the unorthodox scene & setting. There aren't any unbelievable instances or impossible threads. It is definitely worth the read.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Emotional and compelling.
Revisado: 03-11-14
What did you love best about The Martian?
The sense of humor! So funny I laughed throughout the whole book - out loud - people would look at me and be like "what , what's so funny?" Lol
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mark obviously. Genius in his simplicity because he wasn't a science expert made the solutions seem like stuff I could have done if I got stranded in Mars. :D
Which scene was your favorite?
I don't want to spoil it for anyone that hadn't ready. I laughed so hard, I cried so hard - sort of sobbed out loud. I was shocked and I groaned loudly in disappointment.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Absolutely!
Any additional comments?
This is now one of my top 100 favorite book list. LOVED IT!

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Creepy but sooooo good!
Revisado: 07-15-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend this book because it was engrossing, engaging suspenseful and funny at the same time!
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite character was Roger. He was a Neanderthal but totally lovable!
What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He was the manifestation of Nate. I loved the character as much as I did totally because of Ray Porter.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It creeped me out during the monster parts! I didn't want to listen to it at night lol!
Any additional comments?
I loved this book.

Historia
For decades, December 21, 2012, has been a touchstone for doomsayers worldwide. It is the date, they claim, when the ancient Maya calendar predicts the world will end. In Los Angeles, two weeks before, all is calm. Dr. Gabriel Stanton takes his usual morning bike ride, drops off the dog with his ex-wife, and heads to the lab where he studies incurable prion diseases for the CDC. His first phone call is from a hospital resident who has an urgent case she thinks he needs to see.

Thoroughly Enjoyable book
Revisado: 09-26-12
Would you consider the audio edition of 12.21 to be better than the print version?
Yes because the storyline was just the right amount of complexity that it didn't have to be in writing to make it easy to follow and yet it was still an engrossing story that kept my interest.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
There were different narrators and I always enjoy that because it allows you to move with the characters in a more seamless manner.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I definitely had a hard time putting it down.

Historia
> The Chaperone is a captivating novel about the woman who chaperoned an irreverent Louise Brooks to New York City in 1922, and the summer that would change them both. Only a few years before becoming a famous actress and an icon for her generation, a 15-year-old Louise Brooks leaves Wichita to make it big in New York. Much to her annoyance, she is accompanied by a thirty-six-year-old chaperone who is neither mother nor friend. Cora Carlisle is a complicated but traditional woman with her own reasons for making the trip.

I Loved this Book!
Revisado: 06-15-12
If you could sum up The Chaperone in three words, what would they be?
Vivid, Faithful, Engaging
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Chaperone?
The most memorable moment in the novel was Louise telling Cora about her past which gives you the opportunity to view vividly Cora's inner battle of the values/morals that she was raised with and the emerging perception that we are all imperfect yet worthy.
What about Elizabeth McGovern’s performance did you like?
McGovern's easy transition from one accent to another and even tone, which seems so very true to the era that the novel is set.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Labor or Treasure?

Firstly I need to point out that if you have not finished a book (generally speaking) you should NOT write a review on it, as you have no place to express an opinion on something you haven't had the wherewithal to complete.
This is a well written book with a storyline that is woven intricately and for the most part flawlessly. It takes you through the lives of the characters and the story, within the story, within the story so convincingly and seamlessly that you find yourself looking for two moons. Murakami is an exceptionally talented writer with a vivid imagination. The intricacy entails an attention span somewhat healthier than a second graders', but it is worth it because that is what pulls you in.
There were a few inconsistencies with the characters .. for example you wonder why a profession killer would not have experience with a gun and how she could possibly at any point hesitate killing anyone based on her personal judgments and still make a living from killing.
The performance I did not think was as good. The quality of the recording was off. At times I heard background noise and other people. The male narrator at times coughed and burped (totally weird) ... it didn't fit with the storyline, so I'm assuming it wasn't supposed to be part of the narration. The female narrator was acceptable because her voice fit the character (young & sweet - yet lethal), but I couldn't imagine that she will be able to widen her range ... I guess we will see.
