If you love the genre - you can suffer through it. Affordable since you get multiple books per credit. The main problem is the plots are just...sad .A super secret ex-spy cannot reason through even 3rd grade level obstacles. His love interest is the most annoyingly stubborn person possible, just constantly being Daphne and acting like a pre-teen that refuses to listen to even basic level common sense resolutions that would avoid all the conflict. - as a way to move the plot forward into some big confrontation to drive the action. So much so that the super spy will say "don't die this or you will die" and she'll lie to do it anyway. And the main character just goes along with it like there's no other way possible , and never gets mad at her for lieing and putting all their lives in danger - over and over. Narrator is pretty good, but the author , I'm guessing, is just pumping out books as fast as he can with no plot development beyond 'see Dick run'.

The story, as best I can tell, was as good as usual. But the narrator change - as much as I tried to adjust, was just brutally bad. I can't follow what's going on as he's reading it like it's a lesson he's trying to rush through. He doesn't adjust his tone or voice for different character, so it's just impossible to follow. I'm going to have to get the ebook and read it , just to follow it. I cannot follow the narration and gave up about 75% the way through.. I hope they make a change before the next book , or I have to drop this series.

Loved it. Different narration style since it was female pov - but it worked. Glad it was a little less witch centric

RC Bray is fantastic as always. But the tired plot tropes are on overdrive.

The world class operator loses his gun every 5 mins to help the plot along. The US's most super secret prison has no guards. And this is WELL after the president and top spies get a message that this prison that no one knows about, is the target of an active threat. Not only do they not assign guards, they don't move it (it's mobile) or even alert them there's a threat. C'mon. Oh and our top operator loses his prison key-card. While in the prison on a mission. But doesn't notice it until he needs to open a door and realizes there's a hole in his pocket. It's like a Mr. Bean episode.

Love this series. A little less action than typical in the series. A little more character development for Elvis.

I really enjoyed the uniqueness of the story. It was well written , and had a great flow. Well worth the read (or listen).

Two more books in ,and Justin has been kidnapped/captured 3 more times. I think its up to 9 times now?

I can't even finish. It's just Justin stumbling into one crisis after another, and then getting kidnapped or captured. It's supremely annoying.

At least once per book -
The great and revered Commander of the Templar / Good guy armies - who's supposedly a master strategist thousands of years old - gets completely out-maneuvered, cornered, blindsided by the enemies and his army decimated. He should have been fired like 30x as supreme commander.

Justin and - usually with his girlfriend, one of the most powerful people in existence and the main hero that the fate of all the worlds depends on - gets routinely kidnapped / abducted / knocked out by - darts, golems, vampires , vines, crystal throwing stars, poison gas. All the baddies have to do is kill him, world conquered. But they never do . Instead all plans get revealed , he escapes, etc. He's been captured and helpless , but escaped or released after plans are revealed to him more than Adam Wests' Batman and James Bond combined.

Each of the above two scenarios happens pretty much every book. Plenty of good, and bad other things - but those two tropes are just getting so very tired. Mr. Corwin, please use some new plot devices.

While overall I enjoy the story, some of this writing is just laaaaaazy. The main character, who's uber powerful and the fate of the world depends on him....gets kidnapped more than Daphne in Scooby Doo. And way too much of the plotline, and the main characters focus, is spent on who is hooking up with who instead of..oh..you know...saving the world.
