Historia
When Brian Holloway (Jack Quaid, The Boys) was hired by famous horror author Paul Robinette (Titus Welliver, Bosch) to crack an antique safe in his home, he had no idea what he was about to encounter. Opening that safe door unleashed something sinister — something that continues to haunt him. But what exactly? And can whatever slipped through that threshold be stopped?

WOW.

This typically would be something I would avoid listening to, but I was absolutely blown away by this story, the characters, and the narrators. I literally want more! Well done!

Loved being on Ward D, WANT MORE!!
Revisado: 05-12-23
Ward D leaves you wanting more. The insight into this psychiatric world is hypnotic. Freida takes you on a journey, and teaches you along the way. I can only hope this is the beginning of series, because I am in love with Ward D.

MAJOR PLOT HOLE.....spoiler in review
Revisado: 09-19-21
It took place in 2017. They talk about social media and texting throughout the book. Yet when they disappeared they didn't check her phone records? If they would of checked her phone records they would of discovered that the person to claim to have "met her formally once - the night they disappeared" had been texting back and forth/calling/sending photos/etc for months - INCLUDING the night she disappeared. Then, that person just stops messaging her phone after that night? Like she knew she wasn't going to be getting anymore texts lol. Lastly, the entire family to have last been with them just ups and leaves - yet they were never suspects? This would of been a great book, however, that giant hole makes it completely implausible.

I had it figured out less than halfway through....
Revisado: 11-02-20
NO SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW - I kept reading hoping that I was wrong, because how could the story be so obvious so early on. I was hoping for some crazy twist I didn't see coming...but it never came. I never write reviews, but after 12 hours....I felt I had to. This book could of been great if she didn't give away so much at the very beginning. Anyone who has read a handful of psychological thrillers would be able to tell you what was happening from around 4 hours in.

Not plausible. SPOILER
Revisado: 12-17-19
I never leave reviews, but this one frustrated me. The whole story is well built until the end, when it is revealed that the mother had been living with her actual daughter that was abducted the entire time. As if a mother AND brother....AND ENTIRE FAMILY (aside from the dad) wouldn't realize it was the same child. The girl is abducted when she is 4/5, and then the family adopts her when she is 9, and NO ONE realizes it's the same kid, and surprisingly enough the child has ZERO memories....COME ON.

Great Book, BUT.....
Revisado: 09-09-19
I loved this book, so I gave it 5 stars. However, it was a little too far fetched. Everything seemed to be so perfectly timed, I have never read another book where someone was where they needed to be at the exact moment they needed to be 10xs throughout the book. I guess the lawyer is just EXTREMELY lucky, and is the Killer?
