Ambrose stayed behind and built up his construction company. Can’t wait for a second book

Heart wrenching story but left me feeling uplifted. Such a talent. The narrator was perfect and I hope to listen to more books read by him.

Micheal’s narration was flawless
Revisado: 01-24-24
While the listen was engrossing and the story so dear, I am overwhelmed with not having been connected enough to help during this devastating time. This is my third book written by Ms. Makkai and I can’t wait to read anything else she has written! Thanks to the author and the narrator!!

This story has inspired me to look back at all of the flawed characters in my life and see how beloved they are with the telling,

Historia
Her beauty almost certainly saved her from the rising Nazi party and led to marriage with an Austrian arms dealer. Underestimated in everything else, she overheard the Third Reich's plans while at her husband's side, understanding more than anyone would guess. She devised a plan to flee in disguise from their castle, and the whirlwind escape landed her in Hollywood. She became Hedy Lamarr, screen star.

Brilliant
Revisado: 06-30-23
I had no idea this was Hedy Lamarr’s story. She had a brilliant mind and her bravery was unmatched for most women of that era.
However, under different circumstances, this could have been the story of my Mother. I am sure Ms. Benedict would have done her justice as well!!!
Amazing work by the author

Writing, story, character development, and narration get 5 stars

I am a small elderly grandmother but I have the heart of a warrior. Thank you for the chance to live through these well developed plots, characters, and actions. I want my grandchildren to be heroes in whatever field they choose with courage your books inspire and I hope they will grow to love how good literature can make us better men and women.
