Historia
Fox contributor Ari Fleischer says most Americans live in a media-created fantasyland. Never before have we been so information-rich yet so poorly informed. America’s liberal media keeps getting the news wrong. In Suppression, Deception, Snobbery, and Bias, Fleischer notes that half the country is keenly aware that they are routinely mocked and looked down on by much of the media. The disdain shown by too many reporters for too many Americans is a major reason our nation is polarized and divided.

Revisado: 07-31-22
I think we have all suspected that we have been manipulated but this well-researched, comprehensive book shows us just how much we are. The most you can say about the media is that they are so biased they don't even know they are. Thanks to Ari Fleischer for doing such a superb job of research to help us at least be more aware of the games being played with our minds.

Historia
Human history is full of the stories of peasants, subjects, and tribes. Yet the concept of the “citizen” is historically rare — and was among America’s most valued ideals for over two centuries. But without shock treatment, warns historian Victor Davis Hanson, American citizenship as we have known it may soon vanish.

Superb
Revisado: 12-21-21
This is a book that should be required readding for every citizen (legal and illegal) in order to understand the recent chaos and lunacy of the past several years. We are in a time of major change in our lives, and most of us aren' een aware of it Victor Hanson has a historian's long range view and perspective that is rare, combined with an inteligence that is also rare. We are desperately in need of both.

Historia
Texas, 1921. A time of abundance. The Great War is over, the bounty of the land is plentiful, and America is on the brink of a new and optimistic era. But for Elsa Wolcott, deemed too old to marry in a time when marriage is a woman’s only option, the future seems bleak. Until the night she meets Rafe Martinelli. By 1934, the world has changed; millions are out of work and drought has devastated the Great Plains. Elsa must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or leave it behind and go west, to California, in search of a better life for her family.

Tests your credulity
Revisado: 06-06-21
This book takes every injustice ever done in this country and presents them as typical, totally ignoring the efforts over the years to remedy and correct them. The book is completely skewed and biased, and I question the motive. I also wonder why it has such an overall good review by Amazon when the individual reviews are so negative.

Disappointing
Revisado: 02-09-19
A somewhat meandering plot with implausible characters who are not very convincing. Also rather pretentious; however, an interesting ending that attempts to summarize and find meaning of it all.

Historia
In Behind the Throne, historian Adrian Tinniswood uncovers the reality of five centuries of life at the English court, taking the listener on a remarkable journey from one Queen Elizabeth to another and exploring life as it was lived by clerks and courtiers and clowns and crowned heads: the power struggles and petty rivalries, the tension between duty and desire, the practicalities of cooking dinner for thousands and of ensuring the king always won when he played a game of tennis.

Very Worthwhile
Revisado: 12-13-18
This has been a fascinating behind the scenes view of the British Monarchy. It has made the monarchs more real than historic reports detailing dates and events and, in fact, it is much more revealing about the difficulties of ruling than TV and movies indicate. I now have a much better understanding of how the monarchy has evolved in the UK.

Historia
Towards the end of the 19th century and for the first few years of the 20th, a strange invasion took place in Britain. The citadel of power, privilege, and breeding in which the titled, land-owning governing class had barricaded itself for so long was breached. The incomers were a group of young women who, 50 years earlier, would have been looked on as the alien denizens of another world - the New World, to be precise. From 1874 - the year that Jennie Jerome, the first known "Dollar Princess", married Randolph Churchill - to 1905, dozens of young American heiresses married into the British peerage....

The astonishing gilded age
Revisado: 11-15-18
This book is far more instructive and illuminating than its title would suggest. It is an in-depth view of the culture and values of the gilded age and insightful in showing the differences between the English and American values . Sadly, both were corrupt and superficial.

A new world?
Revisado: 09-01-18
A rather simplistic view of depression, albeit asking for a complete change in culture and society. It doesn't really explain why some people with identical problems become depressed and others find a way to cope. No question that the pharma companies have exploited this, but it will take more than one or two books to make the major changes Hari recommends.
