Historia
In the snowbound city of Kiev, wry and bookish history student Mila Pavlichenko organizes her life around her library job and her young son—but Hitler’s invasion of Russia sends her on a different path. Given a rifle and sent to join the fight, Mila must forge herself from studious girl to deadly sniper—a lethal hunter of Nazis known as Lady Death. When news of her three hundredth kill makes her a national heroine, Mila finds herself torn from the bloody battlefields of the eastern front and sent to America on a goodwill tour.

Historia
Billions of dollars are missing from Iraqi banks, and journalist Luca Terracini will risk everything to discover where the money is. His Iraqi American background has made it easier for him to infiltrate the darkest corners of the war, but the death of his beloved Nicola in a suicide bombing has made him reckless. He has nothing left to lose. In pursuit of the money, he meets UN representative Daniela Garner, who seems to know more about the heist than anyone else. She's a valuable asset in Baghdad, where the possibility of an explosion lurks at every checkpoint.

Hard to follow
Revisado: 04-15-22
I usually love this author but this book jumped around which made it hard to keep track of names and details. Still had some good twists but my least favorite book I’ve read from this author. Will still read more of his books in the hope that I like them better.

Historia
William Warwick has always wanted to be a detective, and decides, much to his father’s dismay, that rather than become a lawyer like his father, Sir Julian Warwick QC, and his sister, Grace, he will join London’s Metropolitan Police Force. After graduating from university, William begins a career that will define his life: from his early months on the beat under the watchful eye of his first mentor, Constable Fred Yates, to his first high-stakes case as a fledgling detective in Scotland Yard’s arts and antiquities squad.

Historia
When Iola Anne Poole, an old-timer on Hatteras Island, passes away in her bed at ninety-one, the struggling young mother in her rental cottage, Tandi Jo Reese, finds herself charged with the task of cleaning out the rambling Victorian house. Running from a messy, dangerous past, Tandi never expects to find more than a temporary hiding place within Iola's walls, but everything changes with the discovery of eighty-one carefully decorated prayer boxes, one for each year, dating from Iola's youth to her last days.

Fair book at best
Revisado: 05-02-18
After the first book I read by Lisa Wingate, Before We Were Yours, I couldn’t wait to read another. This one was slow and pretty boring. It was worth finishing but not great. The narrator voice was whiny and pathetic. That was how the character was suppose to be portrayed but was kind of annoying. My rating of 3 stars was generous. Had some good messages but won’t read another book by her unless it gets a very high rating or is recommended by a friend.
