Historia
Herman Wouk's sweeping epic of World War II, which begins with The Winds of War and continues here in War and Remembrance, stands as the crowning achievement of one of America's most celebrated storytellers. Like no other books about the war, Wouk's spellbinding narrative captures the tide of global events - and all the drama, romance, heroism, and tragedy of World War II - as it immerses us in the lives of a single American family drawn into the very center of the war's maelstrom.

A Historical Fiction of a War to Never Forget
Revisado: 02-18-19
Hermon Wouk's research and skill in presenting this story are of the highest caliber. The characters both fictional and historical are fully engaging. This story as a follow on to "Winds of War" is something you should make every effort to read or listen to. The two stories are a reminder of both the courage as well as savagery which our race is so easily capable of.

Humanity at it's Worst...and Best
Revisado: 02-01-19
A fantastic story about people...and war...but mostly people. One of the best stories I have listened to in a long time and nearly 80 years after the war.

Excitement, Emotion and Justice
Revisado: 11-01-18
This is a truly well written and very encompassing story. I thought I understood the story of the Indianapolis. It fascinated as well as terrified me long before I became a sailor. This book showed me how little I actually understood about it.
I also had no idea that this story would provide me with so many emotional waves. it is truly worth your time if you have any interest at all in any of the following:
WWII
Naval Stories
Heroism
Family
Tragedy
Perseverance
Survival
Sacrifice
Natural Terrors
Hope
Treachery
Human Nature
Injustice
Justice
My thanks to Lynn and Sara. I cannot imagine a better presentation of such a powerful and emotion packed historically based book than yours.

First Voice Narration-OK-Remainder-Horrible
Revisado: 12-29-16
The baseline narration voice is fine but I have rarely heard anyone foul up secondary character inpersonations this horribly. Many of the "intelligent" characters sound like they didn't "gradiate" elementary school.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Profoundly Touching
Revisado: 04-10-16
It has been many years since a story touched me so deeply. And just as many since a story made me cry so many times. The tears were pulled from within by the many poignant moments which are encountered in this amazingly powerful and beautifully crafted picture of life, particularly the lives of some very brave women, during the brutal Nazi German occupation of France.
My thanks to the author as well as the artist reading the audio story. It was time well spent.

Beautifully Painful
Revisado: 11-13-15
This is my second Joseph Boyden story. the first was 'The Orenda'. Joseph has a powerful gift for drawing his audience deeply into the lives, feelings, triumphs and struggles of his characters. In each story I have been enthralled, educated, saddened and amazed. But above all I have been fully engaged in and thankful for such beautiful and powerful stories.
