Historia
What You Are Getting Wrong About Appalachia is a frank assessment of America's recent fascination with the people and problems of the region. The audiobook analyzes trends in contemporary writing on Appalachia, presents a brief history of Appalachia with an eye toward unpacking Appalachian stereotypes, and provides examples of writing, art, and policy created by Appalachians as opposed to for Appalachians. The audiobook offers a much-needed insider's perspective on the region.

totally biased
Revisado: 07-08-20
The author should have just named this book "Why I Hated Hillbilly Elegy." This girl has written a book completely to put down JD Vance's book and is obvious that she let her own political views affect what she decided to write about. In her attempt to discredit Vance she doesn't realize how much she proves him right. She does well with reciting history though soooo that's about it...

"The figure looking back at me was little more than a skeleton with just a thin layer of tissue paper for skin, drawn over the stick-like bones. I stood staring for a good couple of minutes, considering what I'd become. And my verdict? Brilliant, I thought. It's been worth every moment of all that hard work". Say the name Nikki Grahame and most people will remember the bubbly, highly strung and hugely entertaining Big Brother 7 contestant.

Respect
Revisado: 05-05-20
I have so much respect for Nikki after reading this. When I initially watched BB I just thought she was a spoiled brat that I still loved because she was so endearing. This explained so much and dispelled many of the doubts I had about her. It also helps other people who are struggling with an eating disorder of how bad it can get and what you miss out on when you do go down the rabbit whole.

Historia
Tess Durbeyfield has become one of the most famous female protagonists in 19th-century British literature. Betrayed by the two men in her life - Alec D’Urberville, her seducer/rapist and father of her fated child; and Angel, her intellectual and pious husband - Tess takes justice, and her own destiny, into her delicate hands. In telling her desperate and passionate story, Hardy brings Tess to life with an extraordinary vividness that makes her live in the heart of the reader long after the novel is concluded.

Revisado: 02-24-18
It took me awhile to finish because i would get so mad at how much of a shit show Obama's administration was and the public was none the wiser. We all have believed the lie they have sold us. I always new that they were fudging a lot of the things that they said but this book pullls back the media cover ups that you didnt care to look into and sheds some light on things that were glazed over that you didnt even know happened. This book is CRAZY REAL!!!!

Milo being Milo
Revisado: 09-25-17
If you lean to the left, PLEASE READ!!!
I love Milo. I have always had a hard time finding people who believe the way I think. It's either they lean towards the left or they are extremely conservative and neither really float my boat. I have followed Milo for a while and with his book he goes more in-depth and uses more statistics and logic to defend his stance and make arguments; which is something I've always liked about Milo. He uses facts to prove what he's saying even though it can be offensive at times you have to swallow what he's saying whether you like it or not. I think that's something that the left needs to understand if they want to understand the motives of the right. I think it's really important for people who lean left to read this book despite whether or not they agree with it.
I read Hillary Clinton's book why can't you read Milo's. Be open to other people's opinions you don't have to believe them but at least hear them out.
My only complaint with the book is that some of the arguments can reduced to name-calling at times; like his chapters on "why the established right hates me," " why feminists hate me," "why the established gays hate me." I mean I understand his argument they are very logical and I see what his getting at but I just don't completely agree with it( I wholeheartedly agree with him on feminism though & I'm a woman.) It's just good old Milo; he's really good at name calling, it's funny too, it attracts younger readers, keeps you engaged so I know why he does it but sometimes I just want him to stay professional, but then he'd loose all those young people. So I don't blame him for doing what he's good at, name calling.
It's a good read though!
