Longing and Worry
Revisado: 01-27-24
The story is good and it is well written, but the main (pov) character seems to experience only the emotions of longing or worry. Perpetual wet blanket. And I know that’s not unrealistic (there are people out there like that) it just makes for a tedious read over 10hrs.

Laundry Files Spinoff
Revisado: 12-14-23
It’s a different story with different characters in the same universe as The Laundry Files. I was disappointed when I thought I’d paid for a continuation of the story I wanted and found out I’d been suckered into buying a new (not as engaging) story. This is more of a street-level super powers story than a lovecraftian spy v spy.

Off putting reading
Revisado: 02-23-23
The story was good. However the reader chose to voice one of the more chatty characters in a strange, halting monotone. Like a robotic Shatner impression. There were no descriptions in the book indicating this was how they’d talk. It was difficult to listen to.

Tedious
Revisado: 10-02-22
Insufferable main character. Tears are their first response to almost anything. Author needs to learn to show more and tell less. Too much narration. And the mildly interesting first story ends halfway through, replaced with a solidly boring second story that reads like a sequel in which nothing of note happens.

Good story, poor medium.
Revisado: 07-22-22
I liked the story. If only it hadn’t been told via the 1st person POV of an utterly insufferable protagonist. Or if there had been more show and less tell. Anything for less of that tiresome internal monologue.

Historia
In the year 2243, the Moon belongs to the dead. The largest graveyard in the solar system, it was the perfect solution to the overcrowding and environmental problems that had plagued mankind for centuries. And the perfect place for Cali Washington to run away from her past. But when a mysterious meteor crashes into one of the Moon’s cemeteries, Cali and her fellow Caretakers find themselves surrounded by a terrifying enemy force that outnumbers them more than a thousand to one. An enemy not hindered by the lack of air or warmth or sustenance. An enemy that is already dead.

Well written, with an absurd premise
Revisado: 07-27-21
All that effort to colonize the moon… to turn it into a graveyard? Not for scientific discovery or mining of minerals or as a low-g gateway to the rest of the solar system. Nope. All that work and investment so we can export our corpses there. It was hard to get past. Felt like someone threw two darts and they landed on “zombies” and “moon” and they just shrugged and did it.

Historia
100,000 years ago the object hit the lake at the deepest point, quickly sinking into its mile-deep Stygian darkness. The sheets of ice closed, time moved on and the land forgot. But over the centuries, legends grew of people vanishing, of strange, deformed animals and of an unexplained luminescence down in the lake depths. When Marcus Stenson won the lucrative contract to create a sturgeon fish farm on the site of disused paper mill on the shore of Lake Baikal, he thought he had won the lottery and refused to listen to the chilling folktales....

About the narrator....
- De Helen en 07-03-19
What's with the music?
Revisado: 08-07-19
There's a reason people don't listen to books and music at the same time. The music just gets in the way of the words and you end up not appreciating either. I can kind of understand if it's part of an audio play, but in those the music is scheduled not to tread on the words and the actors are acting so the music and their emoting works together. When the music is all action, but all you have is a narrator (who clearly had no idea there would be music playing drowning her out) speaking calmly, it seems like there are two different things going on.
Have nothing to say on the story since I couldn't hear it.

Historia
In this sweeping, threaded narrative of the global phenomenon known as the Vampire Wars, mankind is unwittingly infected by a millennia-old bacteria unknowingly exhumed by a scientific expedition in Antarctica. Now, in some rare cases, a person’s so-called junk DNA becomes activated. Depending on their racial and ethnic heritage, they begin to manifest one of the many diverse forms of the "others" that are the true basis for the legends of supernatural creatures. These aren’t your usual vampires and werewolves - it goes much deeper than that.

I would not have thought a book about a viral vampire outbreak could be boring, but this accomplishes just that.
However, Wil Wheaton is, as always, a national treasure.
