What happened?
Revisado: 07-21-24
This book is like the World Economic Forum's wet dream. Global dictatorship eatablished for the people's own good? Humans are a cancer and need to be culled by the GOOD GUYS?! Things are tough so everybody is forced to start eating bugs? Is Conroe a pen name for Klaus Schwab? I really loved this series. Now it's twisted beyond recognition.

Almost skipped this book because of negative reviews, but people are crazy. This book is awesome. I'm thrilled to have a new series to binge. Before paying attention to negative reviews, look up a couple of your favorite books of all time. You'll be amazed at some people's hatred for them.

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Woke mind virus
Revisado: 12-22-23
I read the first few books and found myself hit with radical left nonsense more and more. Militant athiesm, making fun of Christianity specifically and often, anti capitalism, women can be men... the author even found a way to make fun of Trump in a fantasy story. I'm not particularly religious or political but I'm certainly sick of woke talking points being shoved down my throat by every entertainment source. If you can overlook the preachy nonsense you'll probably enjoy this book.

My twin brother has started to go mad, and my powers are the cause. Nobody knows how to stop it, and all the facts are telling me that unless I can cure him, my brother is very likely going to try and kill me soon. And that's just how this whole mess starts. From there I run face first into a whole stack of problems, including a crazy werewolf girl, a large pack of flesh-eating ghouls, and a trip to the greatest repository of magical knowledge in the world, where someone like me is definitely not welcome.

This was a fast paced great story with an ultra badass main character. The only problem is that there's only one book. A series would have been great.

My twin brother is a Wizard and thinks he's the only magician in the family. It's actually a little funny that he hasn't suspected anything different over the last 17 years - with my constantly need to keep his idiot face out of danger and stupidity - but that's not today's problem. You see, someone's trying to kill him.

It gets way better
Revisado: 02-27-22
The story was good, narration is great, and the magic system was unique. Unfortunately, this book dragged on and on and on about the magic system. I almost didn't buy the second book, but I gave it a shot and it got a thousand times better. If you find the first book slow, keep going. It's worth it.

For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Disappointingly slow and drawn out
Revisado: 12-11-20
Narration was fantastic as usual, but this book is so much slower than the others. I was bored through most of it and just wanted some plot movement, or God forbid some character growth. Instead, I got characters that drone on about how utterly terrible everything is for hours on end. Book should have been much shorter, and devoid of all the confusing flashbacks. Someone check on Brandon Sanderson, he might be depressed and took it out on us in this book.

Historia
Gabriel Delling might call himself a professional con artist, but when walking superstitions start trying to bite his face off, his charm is shockingly unhelpful. It turns out living nightmares almost never appreciate a good joke. Together with a succubus who insists on constantly saving his life, Gabe desperately tries to survive a new reality that suddenly features demons, legends, and a giant locust named Dale - all of whom pretty much hate his guts. And when an ancient horror comes hunting for a spirit locked in his head, Gabe finds himself faced with the excruciating choice between death...or becoming some kind of freaking hero.
