Historia
Captain Sabine Fleischer is a skilled and dedicated US Army surgeon deployed to a combat hospital in Afghanistan. She is also one of the thousands of troops who are forced to serve in silence because of the military's anti-gay policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT)". Usually driven and focused, Sabine finds that battles raging both inside and outside are making it more and more difficult for her to deal with her emotions. Dealing with loss and mortality, lack of privacy, sleep deprivation, loneliness, and the isolation forced on her by Don't Ask, Don't Tell are all taking their toll.

Historia
Senior purser Mia Donoghue is always on the go, leaving her little time for herself. She doesn't mind being busy; it provides distraction from painful memories and her daily struggle to stay sober. Captain Ava Alfarsi has just been promoted, carrying more responsibility than she's ever had before. As a single, young and attractive captain, Ava has no problem meeting women, but her control issues and fear of people finding out she's far from perfect stand in the way of connecting with others on a deeper level.

Exceptional Narration

This was a charming story that dealt with two women who were both recovering alcoholics. The love they had for each other gave them the strength to deal with the challenges they faced. I loved the characters and this book.

Historia
Top neurosurgeon Samantha Thomson needs to get married fast and is tightlipped as to why. And with over $200,000 on offer to tie the knot, no questions asked, cash-strapped ER nurse Hayden Perez isn't about to demand answers. The deal is only for a year of marriage, but Hayden's going into it knowing it will be a nightmare. Sam is complicated, rude, kind of cold, and someone Hayden barely tolerates at work, let alone wants to marry. The hardest part is that Hayden has to convince everyone around them that they're madly in love and that racing down the aisle is all they've ever wanted.

I loved this story. Haden needed money. Sam, a wealthy surgeon, needed to get married for inheritance issues. She placed an add on Craig’s list and found Haden! Very 🥰 cute.

Historia
Henrietta Cochran has spent nearly 40 years dealing with the effects of the polio she contracted in 1945. Her braces and crutches restrict her, define her, but they also give her independence. Almost. She hates that she has become increasingly reliant on a series of live-in companions to help her. For some reason, the companions never seem to want to stay very long. So Henrietta retreats further and further into her art, where her physical limitations don’t matter.

Narrator ruined it for me
Revisado: 03-08-25
This beautifully written story was so heartfelt and endearing, but the narrator’s voice was so high pitched that I struggled to get through it. Luckily, I had already read the ebook.

This was the most beautiful love story demonstrating the struggles of dealing with a traditional, homophonic family and the limitations just because one is a woman.

Historia
It’s been over a year since Cassidy Miller retired from the United States Marine Corps, but try telling that to her nightmares. She knew that coming back after eight years in a war zone wouldn’t be easy, but she’d underestimated the real difficulties of transitioning back to civilian life. War is hell, but the aftermath is endless. Looking for a fresh start, she’s left her friends and career in Minneapolis to be a police officer in northern Minnesota. It’s in the tiny town of Embarrass where she learns more about Julia Desjardin.

I loved the story but not the voice of the narrator. She will be speaking nicely, only suddenly jumps to a loud, higher pitched voice.

Historia
The correspondence between Carrie Allsop and David Mayer reveals, piece by piece, the painful details of a devastating affair between their spouses. With each commiserating scratch of the pen, they confess their fears and bare their souls. They share the bewilderment over how things went so wrong and come to wonder where to go from here. Told entirely through the letters of two comforting strangers and those of two illicit lovers, Evidence of the Affair explores the complex nature of the heart. And ultimately, for one woman, how liberating it can be when it’s broken.

Letters exchanged between two spouses being cheated on, the wife and the husband victims. It was interesting to see the self examinations followed by resolutions, only to have things implode as minds found the correct answers that suited themselves.

Very cute and sweet but highly irritated by the overdone presence of mother’s badgering as well as her gossiping friends. That part made me skip forward a few times.

Disappointing
Revisado: 12-17-24
I gave the ebook 5 stars, but this was less than enjoyable. I usually love Abby Craden but in this audiobook she used some annoying and/or obnoxious voices for the some of the side characters. I also felt that she was reading rather than telling the story.
