Richard Osman nails it again
Revisado: 11-22-24
I devour the Thursday murder club books every time they are released and Mr Osman did not disappoint this time around either. Although I didn’t love it as much as Thursday Murder club (because I feel that series has characters that are just more lovable) I enjoyed every minute of this story. Rosie is the highlight in my opinion. But as always Osman spins a great story, throws in humor when needed and leaves you waiting for the next adventure with the characters he creates.
The narration for this title has a buttery smooth voice that is so easy to listen to and get lost in. She does a great job distinguishing characters and her flow is never choppy and never too fast. Hope she does the next one too.

I love this series… and this one in the end did not disappoint but I have to be honest when I say initially it did not grab me and took me a while to get into. However glad I stuck with it because in the end it turned out to be one of my favorites so far! And as always the narrator is perfect! His delivery of dry whit and comedic timing with the lines always ads most the right touch of humor at just the right moment. And as always the characters leap off the page! Love this series can’t wait for the next!

No mystery this time!
Revisado: 01-25-24
I love this series I have listened to all of them and some twice! But this was a snooze fest! It was just Alfie and Emma getting together and the weakest mystery ever! I figured it out wya before the end. I hope the next one is better because I listen for the mystery not the love story.

LB Hathaway is Brilliant! Her characters are like old friends yet her stories are never old or tiresome. This one was probably one of the best ones if not THE best one yet. So much fun to listen to!!! Keep them coming please

Historia
From the authors of the best-selling series CHERRINGHAM. When heart-throb American tennis coach Todd Winters careens off the road in his speeding car one night and plunges in the river, it seems like a tragic accident. But Winters was a young man with many dangerous secrets, and Harry and Kat discover there's no shortage of people who wanted him out of the picture. Soon they discover clear evidence: the accident was no accident at all. And now Harry and Kat had best be careful too... even in the genteel world of the Mydworth Lawn Tennis Club, a desperate murderer could be ready to kill again.

Best one so far!
Revisado: 05-26-23
I listen to this series because it’s entertaining, easy to listen to. But i often find them a bit boring compared to my favorite cozy mystery series (my all time fav is Cherringham also written by these fine gentleman…. And the next Bunberry narrated by the lovely Nathanial Parker). But this one was great! Believable, not obvious like many of the others and just fun! Hope they keep going in this direction. It was great for a fun few hours of listening.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

How can I even rate this?
Revisado: 02-01-23
How can I truly rate this? It’s sort of all over the place…he narrates it beautifully but it reads like a story when it’s actually this super weird surreal world non of us can even imagine! It starts as his childhood story, then turns into a dedication piece to soldiers, then turns into a short story about raising awareness for mental health and then ends in this love letter to his wife. The only two consistent things are a constant narrative about his mother being present and a hatred for the press. Overall I felt it was a bit scripted… the beginning and end all tie together a bit too nicely. At the beginning of the book all the way through to when he meets Meg I was engaged and found it very interesting…Nothing really shocked me about the family or how messed up he was from losing his Mom at such a young age. Actually what did surprise me was just how truly awful the British press is and also that up until the last 3 chapters I actually liked Charles more than when I had started the book! The early sections are so surreal it feels almost like a fictional novel and is easy to listen to. However, the last section of the book about him and Meg was, I admit, interesting but also it was the worst part of the book. It felt like a weird love letter mixed with a campaign to “save their image”. He drones on and on about how amazing she is and is constantly praising her, to the point where it seems almost a bit obsessive and creepy at times. It was a bit obnoxious to be honest. The other thing that made this the worst part of the book was it truly bursts forever the once conceived “William and Harry are super close” bubble. You sort of realize that Williams a bit of an ass and a total stuff shirt and Harry may be a bit off his rocker. So overall I didn’t walk away feeling sorry for him or feeling like I had a new understanding of the royals… I actual went into this being a huge fan of him, Meg and the royal family… but I left sort of feeling like their whiners, drama queens and spoiled brats. Because despite his obvious sympathetic views and proactive behavior towards Mother Earth, poverty and racial issues… he is still living in a privileged bubble.
Overall I feel 50/50 on if Im happy I read this. My feeling on the royals are very mixed now and Im even more depressed that the queen is gone as she seemed to be the the last true classy Royal left… But I will say this… the attention it draws to the disgusting nature of the press is spot on and I hope it starts a discussion that gains traction and leads to stricter laws.

Predictably great
Revisado: 01-05-23
This book was predictable just from reading the dust jacket. But the narration and main character made it worth it… actually all the characters were brilliant, except the knob she’s supposedly been in love with her whole life. The writer struggled to write a guy you wanted to root for… the only man in the book she wrote well was Kate’s Dad. That being said I still liked the lead character, it made me giggle a lot and I loved the town and all the characters she painted along the way. Overall fun easy listen for a Christmas book.

Tom Felton’s adolescence was anything but ordinary. His early rise to fame in beloved films like The Borrowers catapulted him into the limelight, but nothing could prepare him for what was to come after he landed the iconic role of the Draco Malfoy, the bleached blonde villain of the Harry Potter movies. For the next ten years, he was at the center of a huge pop culture phenomenon and yet, in between filming, he would go back to being a normal teenager trying to fit into a normal school. Speaking with great candor and his signature humor, Tom shares his experience.

Couldn’t put it down
Revisado: 10-26-22
This is a love story… a story about his love of life and how he lost it and found it again. You feel like your listening to your bff tell you a story and also like your watching an awesome TV show. He’s animated and sincere, it rolls along effortlessly. He is a true joy to listen to. When it ended I wanted to start it over again. But I put it down and found I was feeling like I had just left one of the best yoga classes of my life. I felt touched, calm and happy. Thanks Tom for sharing so openly, honestly and positively. Your a gem!

Historia
December, 1925. A dark, smog-filled London doesn’t seem very Christmassy or exciting, but then Posie Parker, London’s premier female private detective, receives an urgent call from one of her oldest friends: Rufus, Earl of Cardigeon. Summoned to The Mermaid, an ancient hotel in Rye on the Sussex Coast, in the heart of smuggling country, Posie, together with her husband Richard, finds her friend in a real state. As the snow falls and Christmas lights go up, secrets are revealed, and Posie becomes involved in perhaps her most personal case so far.
