Historia
This is the story of Michael Talbot, his family, and his friends: a band of ordinary people trying to get by in extraordinary times. When disaster strikes, Mike, a self-proclaimed survivalist, does his best to ensure the safety and security of those he cares for. Book one of the Zombie Fallout Trilogy follows our lead character at his self-deprecating, sarcastic best. What he encounters along the way leads him down a long dark road, always skirting the edge of insanity.

Comical & funny at times
Revisado: 12-22-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
yes....if you're into this genre, it puts a different spin on the cheesy zombie movies & books.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Zombie Fallout?
There were many memorable moments with this audio book. Mainly, I loved the sarcastic spin on Mike's internal thoughts as he dealt with each problem that he faced.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Many times I caught myself laughing at the way the main character Mike would converse with different people.
Any additional comments?
Although there were A LOT of f-bombs dropped and various other curse words, on the whole it did add the the atmosphere and tone of the book. The overall feel of the story and how it was portrayed, made you feel as if you were right in the thick of things as they unfolded.
The narrator was perfect for the story. This series was on my page of recommended reading. The book is easy to get into--not slow at all but not so fast-paced that you'd get lost trying to keep up.
Very glad that I have started the series--although I didn't listen to the prequel yet, I did listen to the sample. I might go back & try it but I'm not sure about wasting a credit for an audio book that's less than 3 hours....and not willing to pay the $10 & something cash for it either.

Good listen

Any additional comments?
This series of life in the town of Granford, Mass. is entertaining....of course the main character, Meg Corey is usually involved (somehow or another) along with Seth. I like how the story is progressing without feeling like the author is stringing it out or rushing the characters.

Light but Interesting Read
Revisado: 06-18-16
If you could sum up Rotten to the Core in three words, what would they be?
It's longer than three words but "Apples and Poison don't mix"
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Not really, although when they were poisoned, and started working through the possibilities
of who might have wanted to kill them, I figured out who it was. The actual killer was interesting...
What does Robin Miles bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The difference in the vocalization of the characters. The Northern accents are just right, not overly done. The speed of speech was on target....nothing blows a good narration than too fast or too slow of speaking.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Due to the length, it's very doable...even to go on to listen to another book in the series.

Murder in the Country
Revisado: 06-15-16
Would you consider the audio edition of One Bad Apple to be better than the print version?
didn't read the book.
Which character – as performed by Robin Miles – was your favorite?
Seth....steady, hardworking, all-around good guy that tried to do his best for everyone.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not really, although when Meg was speaking to Cinda at the town meeting, laying out all that she thought was the motive for murdering Chandler, I thought "good for you, stand up to her"
Any additional comments?
This audiobook was a casual thought, I was just shuffling through the different recommendations and seen it. Listened to the sample reading & decided to give it a shot...it's not heavy drama or fluff....has just enough to keep me interested....on to the next book of the series.

Historia
Years ago, the magnificent dragon queen Tintaglia forged a bargain with the inhabitants of the treacherous Rain Wilds. In exchange for her protection against enemy invaders, the humans promised to protect an unhatched brood of dragons. But when the dragons emerged as weak and misshapen hatchlings unable to fend for themselves, dragonkind seemed doomed to extinction. When even Tintaglia deserted the crippled young dragons, the Rain Wilders abandoned the burden of caring for the destructive and ravenous creatures.

Decent ending
Revisado: 06-12-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Only if they would be willing to start at book one of the series...otherwise they wouldn't have the full context of the story and be fumbling around the story.
Would you be willing to try another book from Robin Hobb? Why or why not?
Yes, I have started a few other books in different series of hers so I would finish them out--mostly to say that I'd reached the conclusion in each of them.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Since the narrator did all of the books, with the finish of this one, I had resigned myself to her style of speaking. She did a decent job of differing the voices of the female & males characters although the speech patterns still grated even after four books.
I guess having a different narrator would have been the best thing to do.
Any additional comments?
In each of the books, I felt that there was a bit too much fluff going on...as if the reader needed the proverbial hand-holding (but in word form)---that the reader couldn't imagine it on their own. Many times, I felt myself drifting when that happened...in the this book, I did fast-forward it through one part that I felt was unnecessarily shoved at me....I got the meaning within the first few sentences but the scene was dragged out enough that I just couldn't take it anymore.
Actually, I am glad that it's the end of the series....it didn't pan out as I thought it might....although the battle scene ending was as I hoped.

If you could sum up Dragonfly in Amber in three words, what would they be?
Great Historical Romance
What about Davina Porter’s performance did you like?
She tells the story as if it's just the two of you in the room....not at all 'stilted or 'scripted'...
Any additional comments?
I've read all the books as audiobooks except for the last few so I'm starting fresh and reading them again....it's the type of story that a person can go back & listen to over and over again....kind of like an family story that gets retold many times.

Historia
Once, dragons ruled the Rain Wilds, tended by privileged human servants known as Elderlings. But a series of cataclysmic eruptions nearly drove these magnificent creatures to extinction. Born weak and deformed, the last of their kind had one hope for survival: to return to their ancient city of Kelsingra. Accompanied by a disparate crew of untested young keepers, the dragons embarked on a harsh journey into the unknown along the toxic Rain Wild River.

Which scene was your favorite?
When Sintara finally decided she was going to fly.
Any additional comments?
Of the three books I've listened to so far, the story hasn't really progressed...there's a lot of unnecessary back & forth of the same storyline among the different characters. I'm all for fleshing out the characters & getting their perspectives but sometimes it stretches the story out to the point of the reader being frustrated. Even though I know there's another book to follow, the way the book ended demands a better wrap-up of the loose ends--does Hest make it to Kelsingra to demand that Alise come back with him to Bingtown or does she continue to defy him & stay with Leftin? does Tintaglia get back so Malta can heal her? does the dragons help the newborn baby survive? do all the dragons finally learn to fly & bring back the splendor of Kelsingra? Not to mention the character, Seldon...he's Tintaglia's keeper but I don't know how he really figures into the story & whether or not he survives the voyage or does he get killed for his blood for the old Duke?Although I'm committed to finishing the last book in order to find the answers to these questions, I feel like it would have been better just to have 2 really long audiobooks instead of chopping it up like it is...

yes...given enough time passing....I would do a 'marathon' reading with both books.

no
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
no extreme reaction.
Any additional comments?
the ending is adequate but it seemed to me, there's a possible thread to continuing the storyline. Something that Eli Glinn might pursue.
