Historia
The Colour of Magic, the first novel in Terry Pratchett's wildly imaginative Discworld series, takes the listener on a remarkable journey. The magical planet of Discworld is supported by four massive elephants who stand on the back of the Great A'Tuin, a giant turtle swimming slowly through the mysterious interstellar gulf. An eccentric expedition sets out to explore the planet, encountering dragons who only exist if you believe in them, and of course "The Edge" of the planet.

Fun, but Disjointed
Revisado: 07-31-08
Enjoyable read, but I found several of the transitions a little jolting. I've since read that it's not the finest example of a Discworld novel, so I may try another. The narration was pretty good, with good voice characterization.

Historia
The system was simple. Everyone understood it. Books were for burning, along with the houses in which they were hidden. Guy Montag was a fireman whose job it was to start fires, and he enjoyed his job. He had been a fireman for 10 years, and never questioned the pleasure of the midnight runs, nor the joy of watching pages consumed by flames. He never questioned anything, until he met a 17-year-old girl who told him of a past when people were not afraid, and a professor who told him of a future in which people could think. Guy Montag suddenly realized what he had to do.

Wish I'd Read It Years Ago
Revisado: 07-31-08
Not only did I enjoy the book from a story standpoint, but the use of language and the thought-provoking themes really stimulated my mind. I listened while driving, and more than once sat in the car after reaching my destination to listen to a little more. I enjoyed the afterward, as well. The narration was also top notch.

Historia
Lauren Parish's hottest fling was with Carson McCullen, a mortal and a huge no-no in her witching world. His reappearance in her life has her imagining many new steamy encounters. Too bad his timing sucks. She's busy avoiding the witch-hunters who want her dead, and her only option is to go underground. And when the hunters spot Carson, he has to join her. Still, there are worse ways to pass the days than in seclusion with such a scrumptious man.

Don't Read It for the Story
Revisado: 07-31-08
The reader was pretty good when not trying to do men's voices. As for the story, there were many holes - perhaps even the condom that one of the main characters managed to pull out of a wallet that had already been stolen from him.

Movie was better
Revisado: 02-14-08
There were a couple inconsistencies with the book that they fixed in the movie. As far as the quality of the book, it was an easy listen.

Surprisingly Enjoyable
Revisado: 04-05-05
I'm a WOT fan, but was very skeptical of a prequel book to the series. (not to mention anxious for the sequels.) This book was a pleasant surprise. I wouldn't listen to it as the "first" book in the series, however. You'd be missing too much background information on Aes Sedai, and might be a little lost. It might also be helpful to check out a website on WOT terms/pronunciations prior to listening.
As for the reading itself, it was done very well. This was my first audio book and I was, again, quite pleasantly surprised.
