Historia
Two neighbors - strangers - with one thing in common: they share a fence. But is that the only thing they share? Nathan Fraser lives a solitary life, never letting anyone get too close. It's safer that way. Kourtney Whyte hides from the world and behind her work, too afraid to really live her life to the fullest. Rejection is what she knows best. But one night, the sound of her soft voice and the tantalizing aroma of her evening meal prove too enticing for Nathan to ignore.

It is all about Nathan, Spoiler Review Alert
Revisado: 02-13-22
Spoiler and Trigger Warnig Review:
I love Melanie's writing of men, Nathan is not just another version of Richard in The Contract, the fact that John Lane narrates both is just a Bonus. My problem is Kourtney with a K. Is she really fat? Or is she just not bone thin like the emaciated scarecrow that is Katherine with a K of The Contract. I think Kourtney being smart and nerdy is cool, I think her David Bowie eyes giving her a complex is a fabulous story line, I think Kourtney being shy because of her mother's death and her father and brother's abuse is also a great storyline, I think Kourtney being the Birthday cake fairy is sweet, but TRIGGER WARNING making her fat like a White Elephant but she runs every morning and can out run a 6'3" guy, because she is that in shape enough to run miles, but still fat is a step to far. Fat people don't run, because they can't because they are fat. How do I know, because I am fat, and I can't run anymore because of that fact. When I was skinny or sub 140, yes, I ran and I ran a lot, I have been thin for 30 years of my life and fat for 25 so I know of what I speak. You can't run and stay fat the laws of nature do not allow it. She never says how much 5'2" Kourtney weighs. 130 on the frame would not be curvy, 140 on that frame is curvy but is not fat, 150 is close to fat but not there yet and 160 to 200 is just fat on a 5'2" frame. But I digress. I did say Trigger Warning.
I love the over the fence part, the whole conversation and that the way to a Nathan's heart was in fact through his stomach, he loved her voice and her food, it was beautiful how they built their relationship. Kourtney did not take his bs at all and called him on it. My only flaw with this book is Nathan's record, I honestly thought he was a drug dealer, or armed robber. In a normal world he would never have been charged for what he did. He was not drunk and he the real problem was the weather, but I only know that because I am a former prosecutor. Regular people would not know and I guess she had to give otherwise perfect Nathan a flaw.
The romance was great, the sex was great and I love this one as much as the Contract. Totally recommend this one, a 9 out of 10.

A Balance of Steam and Swoon, Spoiler Alert
Revisado: 02-13-22
Spoiler Alert: I rank this book up there with Talon. I love the fake relationship genre, it just does it for me, never gets old. Jason Clarke, he is wonderful, literally could listen to his voice all day long. Wish I could find him in a duet narration, I would die a happy woman, but I digress. What was good, the fighting pre-move in, so realistic, the sex [ gave me a buzz] and how they discussed their thoughts and feeling for each other pre-27th birthday. What was I love about Miles, he is a guys guy. I love his ink, and I am not a Tatoo person, I generally think they are bad for human skin, but I digress. Miles was realistic in his behavior and thought process, he is a former jock and total bad boy, with money to burn and what I love about Rose is she was smart up until the end, she is a little prudish and uptight but Miles was right she had not had sex in two years. They were both trust fund babies but Rose's job could not keep her in her apartment, but she is the Marketing Director for a major Cosmetics Company? That does not make sense. Maybe I do not appreciate how much her mortgage was? She is a workaholic anti-socialite whose best friend is a socialite. She volunteers at an Animal Shelter? Workaholics don't have time to volunteer. Then the whole I'm dropping off the face of the Earth because I am in love with you but don't try to find me is just stupid. I literally stopped listening at that point, I would have liked more development with the romance, like going places, to the resort that are unique for instance. Give that the same attention given to the guys going to a biker only strip club.
I wish she had done more with their day to day and more on the Ducati.
The only thing that I did not like at all was the typical, I can't discuss my feelings because I am afraid of rejection. Rose and Miles must be the kids who grew up with the participation awards. The discussion with Miles and his father on his birthday was perfect, logical and loving. The fact that Miles did not see his mother that day was just messed up. Miles and Jules only meet once but he knew to call her to find Rose. Does that ring true, about Rose's best friend. Rose never told Miles that Jules knows the fake relationship thing, also odd. Over all I would recommend this book, the excellent parts are swoony and you can get past the other parts. Miles is like Talon, totally sexy just better educated and more sophisticated, Rose is a stronger Asia but not a dominatrix. The wedding part, while I'm happy they got married, I could have done without it. Jules running when Rose screams like domestic violence is occurring, not what a waste.
Whose relationship would I like to see next, Jules and Daemon. That would be interesting, the self made man and the trust fund baby. Hopefully Jolie Day will write that, I will read it. Am I going to read Oliver's story yes!

If God created the perfect man he would closely resemble Creed - on the outside, that is. He’s as cavalier as they come. Unconcerned. Cold. Dismissive. I wonder if he has any feelings at all. And when his lips touch mine, everything goes black. He takes me into his world, and it’s the most magical thing I’ve ever experienced. And I’m sucked in time and time again. Like a moth to the flame, I am ready to be set alight.

Spoiler Review: Can we talk?
Revisado: 11-04-21
I’m all for a good romance, this is an ok one. I’m all for you’re into your boss and he is into you. But…. My boss is the hitman, assassin or muscle for a legally questionable enterprise and I’m in love with a killer? I find out and I move in with him because he is not going to kill me…. Right? I always wanted to know it was like to be inside the head of a killer. I don’t watch murder mysteries because I don’t like crime and yet I found this guy Creed to actually be interesting. I thought it was more interesting that Creed could love somebody. The premise of the book, let the killer meet somebody he’s in love with and doesn’t kill her, because you know, he is in love with her, is strange. What is stranger is that girlfriend when she finds out that he’s a killer does not leave permanently. No I get you’re afraid, I get you’re nervous but you don’t have to sleep with the killer after you know he’s a killer. I just think that since he was prepared to kill you in the beginning he may be prepared to kill you at some other point in time. The fact that she thinks she can control the killer is what I find stops the suspension of reality for me. I found myself more concerned about what the author was thinking when she wrote this, then what is really going on in the book. It’s a creative idea that the killer is capable of love and loyalty, maybe even tenderness, but the killer still a killer. This also reminded me of this new edict, where Maleficent is actually a good guy, Cruella Deville is actually a good guy, no at some point, suspension of disbelief stops for me when it get to crazy. It has to be reasonable, like the Dursley’s, they were mean and not redeemable, Aunt Lydia is evil and unredeemable. Serena. Joy, Fred and Voldemort are all unreservedly unredeemable. Killer’s don’t receive love because they are the bad guy not the good guy. Creed is the bad guy. What did I like then to give it a good review, the story is intriguing and it made me think and that is always enjoyable.

I blame the bubbles for my wild night with a masked stranger. Who cares if it's nothing this good girl would normally do - with a man who turns out to be my horrible boss? Who cares that I’m promised to someone else? I blame the alcohol for agreeing to marry him. As long as my new husband keeps his mouth shut, I can survive five years of our little arrangement. It's too late for anything else. But our impromptu wedding leads to so much more than I bargained for.

Like the Voices, liked the premise of the conflict but the conflict was predictable. I enjoyed the story, romance was great, sex was a little s/m but it is ok. I think the relationship with her friends is/ was key. I enjoyed the book it was a good summer beach listen. The key was Lance, he makes me swoon.

It began on New Year’s Eve. The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world’s population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magick rose up in its place.

A social experiment (a scary but exciting concept): marry a total stranger, live together for six months, and journal everything. Feelings. Fights. All of it. After six months, we each get $50,000 in exchange for our journals, whether we stay married or not. But the goal is to commit to the experience and see if the relationship experts could put together the perfect matches. I have never been lucky in love. This was my chance to find my soulmate. I couldn't wait to meet the man the experts felt was perfect for me.

My favorite in the series, I love Talon, Asia...
Revisado: 05-18-20
I love Talon,! Asia, not so much, she is whiny and a control freak and the dominant in the relationship and a tease. Talon, is a Viking God! He is sweet, understanding, patient and not perfect, it is the combination of his flaws that make him so great, he has a learning arc and a revelation. The post-it notes, the top hat, the wooing at the end, the cupcakes, I love him. I would have waited to have sex with my new husband, not as long as Asia because she is a tease but that is not why I fault her. She showed her dominance when she could not kiss him at the alter [ I would have done that, wedding pictures are forever], in the first 30 minutes in the bridal room [ you can't drink] and frankly her self-esteem seemed totally in tact during the entire book. There is no such thing as a submissive dominant, listening in on his chat with the good doctor and looking at his journal, she got what she desreved, You want respect, you need to give respect. When I started to love Asia was after .... spolier alert... after Talon left, she stayed loyal and got him the real help he needed, that was my love Asia time. Talon I thought he was wrong to leave after their intense sex session the night before, that should have killed her self-esteem. I have read the Storm books. the Torn book was a little twisted for me in the premise, so I passed on that one, I tend to like light hearted, sexually charged and hea endings. Its about the journey to the hea, I liked this journey and I hope that Carian will go back to the Team and share the other couples stories, I love the concept of the experimental marriage.

Spoilers, I can't wait for the second book
Revisado: 12-10-19
I love fantasy sci fi, this is that with a romance twist. It reminds me of these books called the Blending that I read years ago. I doubt there will be any blending here, but maybe that will be the twist. Who is my favorite couple, True and Farah. Why, they have the least amount of power, True a prince to a horrid king and Farah an exiled, niece of a dead king her father killed, is she countess, duchess, that remains to be seen. True has Forest Power, Earth Magic or Green Power, not sure. Farah has Fire Magic, she is a powerful witch after all, but again I'm not sure. Then all the couples kind of drift, Halah is clearly a mermaid and water witch and Aramus has water power, Mars has clear fire power and Silence earth magic. forest magic, Air Magic, again I'm just not sure, but she has a shadow, can we say Harry Potter's invisibility cloak, again I'm not sure. Mars is a bit of a jerk and too arrogant, but I appreciate how he stands up to Silence's father for Silence. Aramus is over protective to a woman who he has not consummated his marriage with in Seven Months and Halah wants a kiss but prior to Fire City she treated Aramus like crap, now she wants a kiss. I guess after True and Farah my next favorite couple is Cassius and Elena, true royals, both Warriors, except Cassius won't let Elena be his helpmate while he acknowledges how different she is from his first wife who at all plump and frills. Cassius wants Elena to want him but he wants to strip her of her power instead of lettering her fight at his side. So if its not the couples, what is it? The story is crazy, its like A Song of Ice and Fire and the Blending wrapped up in one, all the intrigue, I just love it and the looming threat... the beast rises! White Walkers, let the games begin. This did not have a ton of hetero-romance in 15 hours, but it did have death by rape, a lot of voyuerism, guy on guy and menage discussed if not described but it set the story up for more of what I want. Could I have lived without the death by rape, yes, do I understand why it is in the story, yes. I just skip the chapter, 2 if you want to know, I have given the book several listens because you have to to gain an understanding of the story as a whole, it is rich with detail. I only wish they had killed the accents, there are two many and it makes the story difficult to understand. Make some people southerns, its easier on my American ears.

Moving to River’s Edge was supposed to be a fresh start. Away from chaos. Away from bad influences and worse relationships. All I wanted was to give my little brother more of a chance than I ever had. It should’ve been simple. I didn’t count on my transgressions following me. And I definitely didn’t count on meeting Dare. Tall, tortured, and tattooed. A Lost Boy through and through. Falling for someone like him was asking for heartache. But I was a sucker for punishment.

Ok Story, Spoiler Alert
Revisado: 12-10-19
I enjoyed this but, days latter when I usually write a review, I can't really remember it. Not a glowing recommendation. I commend Charleigh Rose on the finished product, it is hard to write a book, but what I really liked was the Dare parts of the book but not the whole story. I thought that Dare's story was intriguing from beginning to end. I'm not sure that it would have ended that way or why he thought what he thought about his big secret that made him ice, but hey, I could follow it and that is key, Lo, I had to drop out of high school to take care of my brother but we are still living with our mom, just did not make sense. Again, she had a lot going on, then my Dad is not my Dad but he takes us in but I'm mad at him for taking us in because he lied, then the domestic violence ex boyfriend, its too much. But I could listen to Lance Greenfield all day. Would read this author again, yes, am I a fan of this particular story maybe

Good Story Enjoyable Listen, Spoiler Review
Revisado: 12-01-19
So I typically listen to attorney stories because I’m an attorney. May is a typical attorney, smart, multifaceted and compassionate. But her law school is bizarre with the rose ceremony, and that should have been a warning but the alumni /new student meet and greet I’m right there, yet I digress. So I basically listen to these books for the escapism of the romance/sex. While I commend Sarina for wanting to go into the pain of recovery from addiction and give sufferers a story they can relate to, May’s addiction and Alec being a bar owner is to much past the suspension of disbelief 11 months into her recovery. Then Sarina makes May bi-sexual, going from the girlfriend now to a boyfriend, ok perhaps, I have no frame of reference for this but zero transition no down time, maybe. Then the story reboots at the end and May is literally right back where she started. Living in her lover’s home. I don’t know that she grew or if she was healthy enough to do it. So that was intellectually and emotionally troubling for me.
Then there is Alec, let’s start with the fact that I basically only listen to a few male narrators and the beautiful voice of Lance Greenfield is at the top of my list. His voice is like Denzel Washington, Brad Pitt, Idris Elba and Henry Cavill wrapped in sound, I love it, but I digress. Alec, I love he is the perfect self-made man. Alec is the dream, loyal understanding and patiently driven. He got me and May with his horrible jokes, but they made the story. He loved May and would be there for her no matter what, no suspension of disbelief there we are mono e mono. I really loved the book but May had too much going on to be able to function unless she was left handed but she is right handed, lefty joke so I digress. Would I recommend the book yes, am I listening to the next time in the series, yes because if Lance Greenfield is my 007, Zachary Webber is my Jason Bourne. Am I into the series, yes, Sarina had great character development and it’s great but hopefully more sex next time, it’s why I read if the story does not make logical sense. If she had just been a recovering addict or just flipping her sexual partner because she is bi and exploring ok but both was too much for me.

Is it Kristen's writing or Lance's narration?
Revisado: 10-03-19
Either way it is magic. I love Johnny Gamble, he a guys' guy, a little too alpha for me sometimes but I bet if Izzy had tried he would have gotten in line. All she had to say is I'm that kind of chick, but she never did. I just love Lance Greenfield, I could listen to him all day. Stella was great, and Izzy is, well a grenade of glitter, they make a great team and I loved the story line, I listened to it at the Jersey Shore and it just made me smile. I like the fact that they did not have some crazy break up because of a plot device, they just lived life which has unpredictable turns. The twist was twisted and really unexpected and **Spoiler Alert** he got his dog back. That really is my only complaint, he gave Ranger away, three years in a dog's life is 21 years, but he got him back. I would never have given my dog away. Anyway, the layers "and/or" the details really made this a total treat. When the second book comes to the Romance Package, I will be happy to listen.
