Historia
In a galaxy where survival is an uphill battle, Shaw and the Deadmen have braved the worst of it. After narrowly escaping the violent takeover of a New World Republic colony planet, they are now en route to Arbornides—the key to unlocking the secrets behind the devastating Scourge. However, Arbornides is no ordinary planet. Its design was meant to expel invaders, and the Deadmen fight tooth and nail to keep themselves and their science teams alive. Along the way, they must also lead a brand-new platoon of Sentinel operators, who will prove crucial in the days to come.

Becomes an average book without RC Bray's magic
Revisado: 03-13-24
The narrator is not RC Bray, and he needs to learn the correct pronunciation of "proboscis". It is pro-bos-sis, not pro-bos-cus. Do your research before you read for an audience. I'm embarrassed for you.

Entire Dempsey series is great reading/listening
Revisado: 01-19-24
All the characters were well-crafted, and Ray Porter breathed life into each one. The stories could've been an alternate reality for this world - scarily plausible and they carry you away once you start. I look forward to more books by this author and narrator dream team.

Revisado: 07-21-22
Fun series with some unexpected turns, interesting wildlife and a wonderful cast of human and non-human characters all brought to stunning technicolor life by R.C. Bray. He's the best!

Historia
There’s chaos in Hollywood at the end of the New Year’s Eve countdown. Working her graveyard shift, LAPD detective Renée Ballard waits out the traditional rain of lead as hundreds of revelers shoot their guns into the air. Only minutes after midnight, Ballard is called to a scene where a hardworking auto shop owner has been fatally hit by a bullet in the middle of a crowded street party.

Not a Harry Bosch story
Revisado: 11-14-21
This is a Renae Ballard story where Bosch's character is mostly just wallpaper. The story is interesting, but if you're expecting to hear much of Titus Welliver, you'll be disappointed like I was.

Historia
Miah Gray is a 27-year-old former army soldier living in rural New Hampshire with his sister, mother, and her boyfriend. He is plagued by PTSD, finding solace, but not redemption, with the aid of prescribed cannabis. All he wants to do is get high, relax with a good sandwich, and watch a meteor shower with his neighborhood crush, Jen. When the sun's light is blotted out the following morning and the world is plunged into darkness, Miah finds himself locked down with his family, covering windows with trash bags, lighting candles, and following the arcane rules of an ancient prophecy.

Robinson and Bray = match made in heaven.
Revisado: 07-28-21
Whenever I see an audiobook written by Jeremy Robinson and narrated by R. C. Bray, I purchase it immediately. I know the book will be a fun listen. I love Robinson's quirky imagery and humor, and the way that Bray breathes life into each character's personality. The pair seems to just naturally go together.

For a genius, the guy is an idiot.
Revisado: 01-15-20
The first book 'The Naturalist' was quite entertaining. Second book was more of the same, but I stayed with it to the end. I hesitated on subjecting myself to the third book, but I'm an optimist - I was hoping that the main character would miraculously change his idiotic methods for something much more clever. Not the case. I tried to read this book, but just couldn't do it.

In orbit, a group of scientists are running the Winter Experiments, a last-ditch attempt to understand why the planet is cooling. None of the climate models they build make sense. But then they discover an anomaly, an unexplained variation in solar radiation...and something else. Close to the burning edge of the sun, they catch a fleeting glimpse of something that shouldn’t be there....

Lead female too whiny to be a mission commander
Revisado: 12-16-19
Why do male writers make women characters so idiotically emotional and whiny? It's irritating and does not do justice to what occurs in real life. Women in militaristic, and business leadership positions are strong, logical and generally avoid letting emotions intrude in their professional decision-making processes. As writers and visionaries, we should endeavor to create strong female role models in works of science-based fiction, especially if those characters are in influential roles. Your stories have interesting plots, but your characters are disappointingly shallow and at times frustratingly silly.

Not as enjoyable as books 1 and 2
Revisado: 05-15-18
The first three books were stellar, so expectations were high for book 4. Unfortunately, "Iron Gold" just didn't quite have the excitement or the page-turning drive of his previous books. Perhaps it was the use of the different voice actors or breaking the storyline into multiple threads, but it didn't hold my interest as much.

Bad choice of narrator
Revisado: 10-07-16
Most of the characters sounded too similar and whiny. The great spirit cat sounded like she was medicated or just waking up and all the men sounded like old women. It wasn't pleasant listening to this narrator - good story, but wish it was read by a more fitting performer.

Can't wait for book 2!
Revisado: 08-12-16
I had just finished listening to Tim Gerard Reynolds' excellent performance of The Riyiria Chronicles by Michael J. Sullivan, and wanted to listen to more of his readings. I found this title by Jonathan Renshaw. I had never read anything by this author before, so I was venturing into unexplored territory. Happily, the storytelling really exceeded my expectations. I will have to keep an eye out for more from this author, and of course, Reynolds' wonderful characterizations were again, enchanting. The only unfortunate thing is now having to wait for the next installment.
