Historia
Mystery Babylon is an in-depth look at the prophecy of Revelation 17 and 18. Richardson dissects the longest prophecy in the New Testament in order to make sense of these deeply elusive and profoundly controversial passages. At once a queen, a prostitute, and a cold-blooded killer, this great harlot waves a golden cup filled with blood. Adorned in purple and scarlet and gold and precious stones, she seduces the kings of the earth with luxury.

Interesting read for those interested in Biblical prophecy.

The narration was a little monotone. It so much that it was hard to listen to but I felt like it could have had more energy. I appreciate the breakdown of Rev. 17 & 18. It has been a bit of a mystery to me. The theory the author espouses seems very legitimate and is a point of view that I have not really considered with any seriousness until I listened to this book.

Dr. Peterson guides us through the ancient, foundational stories of the Western world. In riveting detail, he analyzes the Biblical accounts of rebellion, sacrifice, suffering, and triumph that stabilize, inspire, and unite us culturally and psychologically. Adam and Eve and the eternal fall of mankind; the resentful and ultimately murderous war of Cain and Abel; the cataclysmic flood of Noah; the spectacular collapse of the Tower of Babel; Abraham’s terrible adventure; and the epic of Moses and the Israelites.

Great book. JBP gives the reader a lot to think about in his analysis of scripture. His style does not always flow well, as his sentence structure is usually very wordy. So, many times, I had to re listen to entire sections, pause, think about what he is saying and then proceed. Heavy read but very good, indeed.

I liked that the listener can feel what the author feels. The narrator/authors voice is monotone but also somehow passionate and soulful. Good story by a solid American patriot.

Historia
On November 6, 1860, Abraham Lincoln became the fluky victor in a tight race for president. The country was bitterly at odds; Southern extremists were moving ever closer to destroying the Union, with one state after another seceding and Lincoln powerless to stop them. Slavery fueled the conflict, but somehow the passions of North and South came to focus on a lonely federal fortress in Charleston Harbor: Fort Sumter.

Great perspective
Revisado: 09-25-24
The book was an interesting listen. Well researched, pretty well written and clear narration by someone that sounds like they should be telling this story.
It’s a tough story to tell as there are many stories within the story. As such, it needs a lot of detail which would be difficult to do without getting too wordy. I thought, in spite of that hurdle, the author and editor did a decent job of putting together a story one could stay with. The downside is the reader can struggle to keep up with who’s on what side. I also felt like a more solid finish would have done a little better at tying in Lincoln’s assassination. All in all a good book. I will be recommending it to those of this interest.

Enlightening
Revisado: 08-06-24
According to this book, A.W. Dulles, J.E. Hoover and a few others were playing Master level chess while everyone else was playing “Candyland.” It’s disgusting to find out what our CIA and FBI have been up to for a very long time. It’s no wonder why the rest of the world hates us. Truman made a terrible mistake by starting the CIA and the others (except for JFK) made mistakes in not sending Dulles to a Siberian Gulag. This book leaves no doubt about who was responsible for the assassinations of JFK and B. Kennedy. Dulles and a few others truly were doing work for the devil. I highly recommend this book.

China is killing Americans and working aggressively to maximize the carnage while our leaders remain passive and, in some cases, compliant. Why? If anyone could crack the code, it’s the renowned nonpartisan investigator Peter Schweizer. Schweizer’s previous three number one New York Times bestsellers sent shock waves through official Washington, sparking FBI investigations and congressional probes that continue to this day.

Steven Rinella (The MeatEater Podcast) and Clay Newcomb (MeatEater's Bear Grease podcast) gather listeners for a new round of stories, this time drawing from the lives of the rugged Long Hunters, who include such figures as Daniel Boone, Henry Skaggs, and Kasper Mansker. These were the commercial hunters and trappers who explored and exploited the First Far West, the land across the Appalachian Mountains, in the era between the Seven Years War and the American Revolution—one of the most fabled periods of American history.

The amount of wildlife that people destroyed for profit.
Revisado: 02-20-24
History is not always easy to hear but it is necessary for growth and development. The story was good and the narration was decent. I have liked C.N. and S.R. for years and I have great respect for them both as woodsman. However, I did not like the split narration and as a Southern man, (as much as I like S.R.), his long a, yankee accent just pierces my ears. I think the book would have been a better listen had they let Brent Reeves do the narration.
All that to say, I have and would recommend the book to my friends.

Called a great book worthy of a great man, this definitive biography of the Commander in Chief of the Pacific Fleet in World War II is considered the best book ever written about Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. Highly respected by both the civilian and naval communities, Nimitz was sometimes overshadowed by more colorful warriors in the Pacific such as MacArthur and Halsey. Potter's lively and authoritative style fleshes out Admiral Nimitz's personality to help listeners appreciate the contributions he made as the principle architect of Japan's defeat.

Historia
More than a century later, historians still argue about this controversial and misunderstood World War I naval battle off the coast of Denmark. It was the 20th century's first engagement of dreadnoughts - and while it left Britain in control of the North Sea, both sides claimed victory and decades of disputes followed. This book not only retells the story of the battle from both a British and German perspective based on the latest research, but also helps clarify the context of Germany's inevitable naval clash and the aftermath after the smoke had cleared.
