Historia
Yosef struggles through his responsibilities as the surrogate father of the messiah, destined as he is to raise and train the single most influential person in human history. Dwelling with his wife and children in the quiet township of Natzeret, always beneath the shadow of the Roman Empire, at times beneath its hostility, Yosef does the very best that he can to guide his adopted prodigy of a son. No one else had ever been expected to function as the guardian of God during His incarnate adolescence. And Yosef never knew as much either.

Revisado: 06-22-24
Book Review: "When God Was a Boy"
"When God Was a Boy" is a poignant and introspective exploration of childhood, spirituality, and the profound mysteries of existence, with the central character being none other than Jesus himself. Written with sensitivity and depth, this novel delves into the early years of Jesus' life, presenting a unique perspective on his formative experiences.
The narrative unfolds in a small, rustic village where Jesus grows up, blending elements of historical fiction with touches of magical realism. Through the eyes of the young Jesus, readers are immersed in a world where everyday events are infused with profound meaning and symbolism.
The author skillfully portrays Jesus as a curious and compassionate child, grappling with his own identity and the extraordinary destiny that awaits him. The interactions with villagers, his family dynamics, and moments of solitude are depicted with authenticity and emotional resonance, offering insights into the human side of a figure often seen through a lens of divinity.
The prose is lyrical and evocative, capturing the essence of childhood wonder and the spiritual awakening of a young soul. Themes of faith, belief, and the interconnectedness of all things are woven seamlessly into the narrative, inviting readers to contemplate deeper truths and universal truths.
Overall, "When God Was a Boy" is a profound meditation on the intersection of humanity and divinity. It challenges readers to reconsider their understanding of Jesus as both a historical figure and a symbol of faith, offering a fresh perspective on his early years that is both enlightening and deeply moving. This novel is a testament to the power of storytelling to illuminate the complexities of the human experience and the enduring quest for spiritual understanding.

Millions are satisfied to sit through hour-long, weekly religious services. Millions more have left the church, brokenhearted and cynical. But God is waking up his people - people who will risk everything and sacrifice anything to become the dynamic, powerful church seen in Scripture. We Are Church calls Christ-followers, young and old, to hold fast to their biblical roots while seeking radical change. Scripture promises an exuberant and unstoppable church. If you feel like there may be something missing...
Revisado: 10-11-18
Francis Chan does an excellent job of explaining what he feels is missing from the American church. His opening question sets the tone for what I found to be a can't stop listening experience. I plan on starting it again right now!
