Better than the movie
Revisado: 12-22-23
I hate when these screenwriters think they can rewrite an author’s story and tell it better. We see it all the time in these movies based off Stephen King’s books. I saw it in The Strain television series, where they butchered Hogan and Del Toro’s trilogy. I mean I get that they need to make modifications here and there to make it fit for watching rather than reading. But I believe this story here could’ve been kept almost fully intact, and it would’ve worked just fine on the big screen. Great story with a great ending that was absolutely nothing like the movie.

Historia
Six-foot-9 and 400 pounds, hailing from parts unknown, he is the one-man walking gore machine of the Deep South Wrestling Conference, and his name is Goon. But Detective Phillip Straker isn't a wrestling fan. The bodies pile up like dirty laundry: sex-obsessed tramps used as playthings by some unspeakable creature. Straker is determined to solve the rash of mutilation murders with trimmings that beg description. Is it just coincidence, or do all the victims have something in common?

Total Awesomeness!!
Revisado: 10-16-16
This was just what I've been needing. Not too long, not too short, heavy on the dark humor without all the cliché sarcasm, grotesque but in a way that had me rolling with laughter, a really nice supernatural twist, and a little bit of pro wrestling. I know this book will not be for everyone, but it was right up my alley. If sexual raunchiness gets you uptight, you may want to steer clear of this one. With all that being said, I recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

Would have made a great short story
Revisado: 03-29-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Not really. I felt like it was a good story but was drawn out way too long. Don't get me wrong, I love long books, but I felt like this particular story was being dragged out to the point of monotony. It would have been better written as a novella.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Ray Porter is always decent enough.
Was Deadlands: Ghostwalkers worth the listening time?
I don't want to take anything away from Jonathan Maberry, but I wasn't really satisfied with this one. I gave it a very generous 3 stars.

Historia
A master storyteller at his best - the O. Henry Prize winner Stephen King delivers a generous collection of stories, several of them brand-new, featuring revelatory autobiographical comments on when, why, and how he came to write (or rewrite) each story. Magnificent, eerie, utterly compelling, these stories comprise one of King's finest gifts to his constant fan. "I made them especially for you," says King. "Feel free to examine them, but please be careful. The best of them have teeth."

Doesn't Belong in the Horror Genre
Revisado: 11-11-15
This is a really nice collection, but it doesn't belong in the Horror Genre. I realize that it is almost automatic to assume that "because it was written by THE ONE AND ONLY Stephen King", that it must be horror. Well I disagree. I've read quite a bit of King's work over the last 30 years, and what I've noticed is that the older he gets, the more his stories revolve around the issue of mortality. These stories range from "it was okay" to "wow, that was amazing". but the one thing that I believe holds true, is that these are not the type of stories the man used to write. While listening to this book, I found myself hoping that the next one would send chills down my spine. Well I'm almost through the book and "no such luck". I don't want to take anything away from this collection, as the stories are truly heart-warming. I also know that horror is somewhat relative to the perceptions of the reader. So I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions. But to me, this is not Horror. Thanks for reading my review.

Dean Koontz Has Found His New Niche!!
Revisado: 11-05-15
Wow, I'm really impressed!! This thing doesn't even read like Dean Koontz (not that Dean is subpar by any means, but these stories are very intriguing and not his typical type of story). I really hope Mr. Koontz continues to drop these collections. I'm only halfway through the book but felt it necessary to share this news with my fellow bookworms. This book is very much worth a credit.

Overall, a pretty good story well narrated...
Revisado: 06-05-15
Very easy to listen to. I was able to spend about three days marathon listening to the book and didn't find myself daydreaming like I sometimes do with long and tedious titles. With this being said, there were plenty of times that I found myself getting annoyed by the monotony of the characters repeatedly getting drawn into arguments and allowing themselves to be so easily drawn away from the fact that they were all stuck on the island and at the mercy of whoever concocted the insidious plot. I couldn't help but think that if I were in those shoes, I wouldn't have wasted so much time bickering over petty nuances and separating myself from those stuck on the island with me, but would have instead been looking to bring the group closer together. Really, my only other significant complaint is that I think it took the group too long to figure out that something fishy was going on (no pun intended). But overall, I found the story to be pretty entertaining and would recommend it to others. A credit well spent!!

My Favorite Ninness Story So Far
Revisado: 05-17-15
Ninness has caught my attention as of late, and I have been "marathonning" through his collection. Of the four I have listened to up to this point, I'd have to say that this one is my favorite. If you like supernatural short stories, give this one a go. As a matter of fact, give any of his stories a listen. Not bad at all for the price.
