Best read/listen in a long time

It’s cliche to a point but this book led me to laugh, cry, and shout Amen. I picked it up after her interview on the Started From The Bottom podcast and it was definitely worth it. There are so many nuggets of knowledge here that it should be mandatory reading of some sort.

We need more audiobooks like this.

I didn’t know what to expect going into this audiobook but I wasn’t disappointed. From a production standpoint this is one of/if not the best audiobook I’ve heard. From mixing in the music and background to perfectly compliment the story to Will Smith’s delivery of his autobiography it was perfect.
The stories he share deeply personal and easy to connect with even though he’s a celebrity. You can feel the roots of his childhood through everything he speaks on and fills in the gaps that the public hasn’t seen throughout his career.
A lot of people may read/listen to this as a result of “the slap” and I think they will be surprised that they want necessarily find what they’re looking for. Through the book I kept saying multiple times “ah this is why…” and then turn around multiple times and realize it doesn’t connect to what happened. Once you get to the end the totality of the book speaks volumes to the human and Everyman Will Smith is and why he like ourselves are more than one incident in our lives.
Definitely recommend this book for any and everyone who has lived a life where they have struggled with meaning.
