How many times can you use the word said in paragraph? Apparently a lot. The story was ok but got lost in the overuse of speech tags and repetitive descriptions of guns and accessories.

The characters were likable and progressed as they were faced with increasing odds. The internal struggles were believable and the story did come to an acceptable conclusion.

An audio edit would make this a solid 4 but the distractions kept pulling me out of the story as is.

The story was good but this needed an audio edit. Way too many speech tags was distracting. The word said was way overused throughout.

Also this should have been listed as lgbt or at least mentioned in the blurb. That would cut down on readers leaving low reviews because they do not like that content.

This story has a decent plot and would be a five star if the MC wasn’t such a twit. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results. She has no real sense of self preservation and is constantly getting herself into situations she is not equipped to handle. This puts her friends in danger needlessly when they have to bail her out in every other chapter.

Other than the annoying MC the story is enjoyable enough a trudged through her childishness and made it to the end.

Narrator did a great job. Good pace and easy to understand.

Nothing and no one is sacred in this rip roaring parody torn from the pages of current events. From the dapper and deadly main character to his intern with a gender studies degree and a resume experience consist of only occupying a street.

I laughed until my sides hurt as the references to pop culture icons and parody rolled by.

If you want truly funny political/cultural satire this one is for you.

Trigger warning- People with liberal leanings or no sense of humor may find certain political parallels offensive.

This story gets better every time. Craig Martelle has created a world full of well developed characters that you can’t help but cheer for.

The narrator, Kate Rudd, has done an awesome job of bringing those characters to life. Her voices are well developed and there is no doubt who is speaking when she does the main characters.

A well written and professionally read work.

Characters are well formed and I liked them, well where they’re supposed to be. Area research is accurate.
Emily does a decent southern accent and is easy to understand.

This is the first book in the Oriceran universe, it sets the stage for the next “few” books in this and several other series set here. If you like a fast paced story with well developed, interesting, and fun magical characters you will like this.

The narration is clear with a good pace and the narrator brings the many characters to life.

I read the THW books as they were released several years ago and LOVED them. Being new to Audible books (My last experience with these were books on tape, yeah I’m old) this was a truly fun experience. The narrator brings the story to life in ways just reading can never do.

Highly recommend this series for anyone who wants a good tale about good vs evil in a post apocalyptic land.

Read this years ago but the audible version really brings the characters to life. This is an excellent story with a strong female lead who takes no guff from anyone but has a heart of gold. Just don’t make her mad or you will find out why she is The Queen Bitch.
