I liked some things but not others

I liked learning SOME about the elephants, but with the amount that is in this book? . . . I felt like I was reading a researcher’s dissertation or a couple of fieldwork notebooks full of observations—I got BORED. The mother’s narration was my least favorite narrator. This is my first Picoult book. I might try another (I’ve heard some others are much better). Aside from the one narrator and the never ending elephant talk, I enjoyed the the story up until the point I DNF’d it (when I realized that the elephant talk was NEVER going to end).

I read the book and then decided to listen to it. The experience of listening makes me feel like it’s new again. I gave the book five stars because I liked it so much. I was worried I wouldn’t like the narrator’s voice in the audible version (I’ve had that happen, where I don’t like the voice or it doesn’t seem to fit the character). I was happy to find that I loved the narrator’s voice. It was soothing and relaxed, which is perfect for this story. I like to listen to things when I walk for exercise and this is one of my favorites so far!
