Definitely a good read, worth the time to sit back and enjoy. Another nice thing is that it’s relatively clean. I’d give it a PG-13 at worst, and I find that refreshing.

Historia
Using deadly foamal bombs and newly developed vibration weapons, men like Joao Martinho and his coworkers fought to clear the green hell of the Mato Grosso. But somehow those areas that had been completely cleared were becoming reinfested, despite the impenetrable vibration barriers. And tales were coming out of the jungles - tales of insects mutated to incredible sizes, of creatures who seemed to be men but whose eyes gleamed with the chitinous sheen of insects....

Very interesting story
Revisado: 07-09-24
While the plot seems a bit simple, it is a shorter book than my usual fare so I’ll give it a bye for that, and engaging from start to finish. Interesting ideas throughout, and very clean world building, as always. The ending left some things unanswered, and I will now search for a sequel if there is one.

Karen Farrington brings this history up to the 21st century, exploring some of the world's worst prisons, from Alcatraz to Pollsmoor, and the unending battles that rage between convicts and warders. Inside the prison walls, gangs rule, guards devise sadistic punishments, and newcomers suffer abuse at the hands of experienced tormentors.

I thought the book would be a bit dry, but in fact it kept me interested from start to finish. The chapters seemed a bit short on each subject, but there was a lot to cover. Definitely recommend!

Historia
Most of us are aware of the hive mind—the power of bees as an amazing collective. But do we know how uniquely intelligent bees are as individuals? In The Mind of a Bee, Lars Chittka draws from decades of research, including his own pioneering work, to argue that bees have remarkable cognitive abilities. He shows that they are profoundly smart, have distinct personalities, can recognize flowers and human faces, exhibit basic emotions, count, use simple tools, solve problems, and learn by observing others. They may even possess consciousness.

Historia
At the end of Shadow of the Giant, Bean flees to the stars with three of his children—the three who share the engineered genes that gave him both hyper-intelligence and a short, cruel physical life. The time dilation granted by the speed of their travel gives Earth's scientists generations to seek a cure, to no avail. In time, they are forgotten—a fading ansible signal speaking of events lost to Earth's history. But the Delphikis are about to make a discovery that will let them save themselves, and perhaps all of humanity in days to come.

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

Classic story, full cast misses the mark
Revisado: 11-09-21
The full cast would have been fantastic, I really enjoyed the different voices and characters, but they were so distractingly inconsistent. Some characters would change voices, sometimes mid-scene, and often the narrator would plow right through and miss a lot of cues to switch to the appropriate actor. Some actors had a canned feel early on, with weak acting, but as the book progressed they seemed to relax into the role, mostly.
Overall, if you can forgive the voicing slip-ups, this is a good version to listen to. I’ll likely be keeping it.

Good story, but kinda flat narrating
Revisado: 04-28-21
The story is pretty good, though be warned there’s a couple NSFW parts, one at the very beginning. After enjoying the first three books sex free, this was an unexpected surprise.
Honestly, the flat, nearly emotionless, and muffled narrating kinda killed the whole novella for me.
