The Narration Is TERRIBLE

I love Thoreau, and I love this collection of Thoreau, but the narration drives me insane. The narrator, Lee Winfield, has a great voice, but he absolutely cannot read one sentence without dropping the last syllable or two down to a whisper. I have had to hit repeat over and over again just to try and understand what the last word or two of the sentence was. This also involved turning the volume on my player up almost as high as it would go. This is insanity. If he could maintain a conversational level throughout, this would be one of the all-time best narrated books of all time. But it now rates among the worst. Based on Winfield's performance on this work, I absolutely will never buy another book which he narrates.

HORRIBLE PERFORMANCE

I cannot express deeply enough just how terrible the man reading this book sounds and performs. He slurs, mispronounces words, and rushes through the book like he is in a hurry just to get it done and over with. I have tried several times to suffer through this, but I can’t. In all honesty, he sounds like an old man who has suffered a stroke.

The book itself is probably great, overall. However, the narrator makes this a veritable nightmare. He constantly mispronounces words, but worst of all, he does this stop-and-go narration that will drive any person insane. Seriously, he says three words, pauses, and says three more words. He doesn’t start off this way, but by Chapter 5, he’s in full swing. I am going to try and find another audible book with a different narrator.

I got this believing it was the actual audiobook to You Were Born Rich. it isnt. It is an audio edition of a You Were Born Rich seminar. The absence of the seminar workbook makes this audiobook almost worthless. Yes, there is good material presented. But without the visuals, it's value is diminished.
