Historia
For years, consumers have been promised a simple, carefree digital future. We could live, work, learn, and play from the comforts of our homes, and have whatever we desire brought to our door with the flick of a finger. Instant communication would bring us together. Technological convenience would give us more time to focus on what really mattered. When the pandemic hit, that future transformed into the present, almost overnight. And the reviews aren't great.

I was WAITING for this digital (?) book!
Revisado: 03-01-23
I’ve been waiting for a book like this. Is listening to the audiobook a digital or an analog experience? You need to hear or read the book to find out!
OK. I won’t keep you in suspense. I think it is both. As David Sax says, we need, and we have both.
The pandemic was an incredible experience for almost all of us. I was teaching instrumental music to fifth and sixth graders during the pandemic. Sax captures my negative experience and describes very well what so many of my students and their families went through. I don’t think we have yet realized the impact that going all digital all at once for a significant time has done to us — and FOR us. Over the past several years, I have realized that, with the advent of digital devices of all kinds and the proliferation of enabling software, our hope of a digital paradise is further away than I could’ve ever predicted.
There is nothing like in-person coaching, training, and demonstrating. Nothing.

Historia
Intelligence is usually seen as the ability to think and learn, but in a rapidly changing world, there's another set of cognitive skills that might matter more: the ability to rethink and unlearn. In our daily lives, too many of us favor the comfort of conviction over the discomfort of doubt. We listen to opinions that make us feel good, instead of ideas that make us think hard. We see disagreement as a threat to our egos, rather than an opportunity to learn.

Surprising! The stuff I thought I knew but didn't!
Revisado: 08-25-21
I was expecting to hear a rehashing of self-help principles and practices. I was surprised to learn a LOT of new material. That may sound arrogant but I've read and studied so many self-help books, and courses over the years that I really didn't think there was much more to get from yet another book that professed that I, too, would benefit from the power to be found between its covers!
It was really a wonderful book. It can be a reference for understanding human behavior with plenty of current research. The author provides a model for "thinking again." He demonstrates why and how to change your mindset so that you can tap into discovering what you don't know. That process can be powerful.
This was not simply a "feel good" audiobook. I am using it to help invigorate my own coaching.
I'd summerise it but then you wouldn't need to get the book. I bought the audiobook and then also bought the Kindle edition so that I could read along and take notes as I listened.
You won't be disappointed. Buy the book!

Historia
Stephanie Kelton's brilliant exploration of modern monetary theory (MMT) dramatically changes our understanding of how we can best deal with crucial issues ranging from poverty and inequality to creating jobs, expanding health care coverage, climate change, and building resilient infrastructure. Any ambitious proposal, however, inevitably runs into the buzz saw of how to find the money to pay for it, rooted in myths about deficits that are hobbling us as a country.

It’s up to us
Revisado: 04-18-21
This is a very important book! Important to whom? Average citizens, like me, must spread the word. I don’t think our politicians have the metal to lead on this.
When the narration began, I was afraid it was going to be a dry and uninteresting slog. My prognostications about it were wrong.
MMT is A solid monetary theory that explains the way our currency and economy actually work! After listening to the book and working with the accompanying pdf file I finally understand why we CAN do big and important things in this country. Kelton helped me see the mental model that I’ve been carrying around in my head as the myth that it is.
Until we understand the fact that the US is a currency issuer and all flows from that FACT, we are doomed to play small and promote a scarcity mindset.
Read or listen to this book. Then, call or write your Representative and Senator and tell them to “get with the MMT program!” There is no good reason why this nation can’t be what we want it to be. We must expose the myth - the lie - the faulty lens... There Deficit Myth!

Historia
From the New York Times best-selling authors of America's First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton - a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. In this haunting, moving, and beautifully written book, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza's story as it's never been told before - not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

My WINNER
Revisado: 03-29-20
I did not think I would like a historical novel. If it wasn't a "real" novel, why read it? I just wanted you to know my prejudiced view from the outset of this review and my very happy discovery that my unfounded view was capsized!
It was a wonderful story of a founding MOTHER of the United States from pre-revolution to the middle of the 19th century! Yes, Alexander Hamilton played a major role in the story but it really was the account of Elizabeth ("Betsy") Schuyler Hamilton's life and times. The authors masterfully braided a compelling story that had me looking up historical facts and situations that I wanted to know more about! The language of the text allowed me to imagine what it might've been like in the late 1700s and early 1800s for the brave Mrs. Hamilton. In addition, I gained an appreciation for Alexander Hamilton along the way. I became a little dismayed as the story was about end. The end would come too soon!
The performance was impeccable, a term I almost never apply to anything. Cassandra Campbell is my new favorite voice. I cannot even write this review without hearing her voice in my ear! Her timing, cadence, enunciation, modulation, and above all, passion.
I want to thank the authors for this wonderful book. It was a wonderful journey.
What a WINNER this audiobook is!

How "Aha!" really happens....When do you get your best ideas? You probably answer "At night" or "In the shower" or "Stuck in traffic". You get a flash of insight. Things come together in your mind. You connect the dots. You say to yourself, "Aha! I see what to do." Brain science now reveals how these flashes of insight happen. It's a special form of intuition. We call it strategic intuition, because it gives you an idea for action - a strategy. This new book by William Duggan is the first full treatment of strategic intuition.

In his previous book, Thomas Frank explained why working America votes for politicians who reserve their favors for the rich. Now, in The Wrecking Crew, Frank examines the Washington those politicians have given us, showing why, no matter what happens in November 2008, we're stuck with it for the foreseeable future.

The Wrecking Crew
Revisado: 08-21-08
Speaking as a former Republican, I can say that Thomas Frank documents what I lived through and began to see for myself since the Reagan era. An historical perspective is precisely what we need to be able to set our policies and politics back on a reasonable course. The voice of reason, trust and goodwill has been all but silenced after 30 years of big money and power-grabbing by the "conservative" ideologues.
I highly recommend this listen for everyone who is fed up with this deregulated and corrupted system.

Historia
Eating is about more than satisfying our hunger. It's also about the environment, social justice, personal development, and sustainable living. Many Americans already know this. We're eating less red meat and more organically produced foods, and most restaurants offer vegetarian options. But do we really know the truth about mechanized animal farming and slaughterhouses, herbicide and pesticide use, and labels that promise "Certified Humane"?
