Historia
On January 28, 1742, a ramshackle vessel of patched-together wood and cloth washed up on the coast of Brazil. Inside were thirty emaciated men, barely alive, and they had an extraordinary tale to tell. They were survivors of His Majesty’s Ship the Wager, a British vessel that had left England in 1740 on a secret mission during an imperial war with Spain. While the Wager had been chasing a Spanish treasure-filled galleon known as “the prize of all the oceans,” it had wrecked on a desolate island off the coast of Patagonia.

Excellent work and presentation
Revisado: 07-29-23
This is a gripping story about men under extreme circumstances and pressures. The revelations are disturbing regarding the various groups of men who divided into groups some of whose characteristics were as base and murderous and led to the ultimate demise of the society amongst them. Highly recommend this book.

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

Feat beyond belief
Revisado: 07-10-23
Story is hardly believable… I found myself thinking about how anyone could have survived… reminds me of Lewis and Clark expedition. Fabulous… I couldn’t put it down. Exceptional reading.

Historia
A central feature of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is its pronouncement that there are living prophets. Though a central doctrine, it is nevertheless not unusual to have questions. Packed with stories, explanations, important statements, and sacred experiences, The Last Safe Place shares seven core principles that correct misconceptions about prophets. Understanding these, we are in a better position than ever to teach our children about prophets and why they can trust them. We also find ourselves better able to address questions about living prophets.

Great content, poor narration
Revisado: 10-27-22
It is great to have two narrators for variety, but when authors do their own narration, they must have strong voices. Her voice is bearable but his voice is frustrating… fading off at the end of sentences or paragraphs, making it hard to hear the message. And the message is so important and wonderful… great content but two of us agree that this is a book that we might have rather read than listened to.
