Historia
As the city prepares to celebrate Queen Victoria's golden jubilee, Veronica Speedwell is marking a milestone of her own. After burying her spinster aunt, the orphaned Veronica is free to resume her world travels in pursuit of scientific inquiry - and the occasional romantic dalliance. As familiar with hunting butterflies as she is fending off admirers, Veronica wields her butterfly net and a hatpin with equal aplomb, and with her last connection to England gone, she intends to embark upon the journey of a lifetime.

You really have to suspend your dis-belief on this one...
Revisado: 11-12-18
I was ready to quit listening after the first few minutes, because the narrator really grated on my nerves. Then I slowed it down to .75 and though it was a little too slow, was much easier to listen to. The story gets sillier and more unbelievable the farther along it goes, and by the time of the “big reveal” I didn’t care any more.

Historia
Arriving in Cairo for another thrilling excavation season, Amelia is relaxing in a well-earned bubble bath in her elegant hotel suite in Cairo when a man with a knife protruding from his back staggers into the bath chamber and utters a single word - "murder" - before collapsing on the tiled floor, dead. Among the few possessions he carried was a sheet of paper with Amelia's name and room number.

Disappointing
Revisado: 01-20-18
I hesitated to buy this in the first place, then took months to finally listen to it. Sorry I did, in both cases. It dragged on and on, and probably would have been better if it were about two hours shorter. Barbara Rosenblat is my favorite narrator, and her performances have always been spot-on, but this is full of stumbles, pauses, and mis-readings. I agree with the person who said she just didn’t seem to be in to it. She wasn’t the only one.

Get ready to suspend your disbelief -
Revisado: 04-22-17
I love cozies, but this one was a big stretch. I found myself screaming "call the police" on more than one occasion. Woman causes a man's death, is poised to commit murder, and Carol and Jude sit her down, give her a cup of tea, and let her husband take her home because she is a little out of sorts. Yeah, not his best....

Historia
In Lisa Gardner’s first-ever short story following thirteen bestselling novels, The 7th Month takes listeners between the books and into a day in the life of Boston Detective D. D. Warren. In her seventh month of pregnancy, D.D. should be taking it easy. Instead, she accepts a small consulting role on the set of a serial killer film shooting in Boston.

Worth a listen
Revisado: 04-27-13
Would you listen to The 7th Month again? Why?
Probably. It's an easy listen, well paced story, and nicely performed by Kirsten Potter.
What did you like best about this story?
There is a nice rhythm to the writing. It was very enjoyable to listen to, nothing too heavy. It was a good introduction to the characters, and made me hope there will be more to come.
Which scene was your favorite?
When the would-be actor showed up on set as a Vampire ax murderer.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Since this was a short story, there really wasn't enough time to build up much real drama.
Any additional comments?
I really dislike the current fashion of the publisher playing their music over the narration. It distracts from the story, makes it difficult to hear what is being said, and is disrespectful to the performer.

Historia
On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me—well, actually, my true love, Darcy O’Mara, is spending a feliz navidad tramping around South America. Meanwhile, Mummy is holed up in a tiny village called Tiddleton-under-Lovey with that droll Noel Coward! And I’m snowed in at Castle Rannoch with my bumbling brother, Binky, and sourpuss sister-in-law, Fig.

Very light reading
Revisado: 01-01-13
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Edit out most of the first hour. It was pretty boring. I had to force myself to continue listening. And there were too many murders. I would also have recorded the section containing the recipes and game instructions that were part of the print book. I feel a little cheated.
Would you be willing to try another book from Rhys Bowen? Why or why not?
I might try reading the first book in the series to see if that would hook me into reading more. Most people praise the first couple of books.
Which scene was your favorite?
The scenes with her grandfather and with her maid were the most amusing, but nothing stands out as a favorite.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
I'd probably watch it if it were on TV, but I wouldn't pay to see it.
Any additional comments?
The narrator is fantastic. Her performance was the only thing that kept me listening until the end of the book. I will definitely look for more books with this narrator.
