Historia
John Eisenberg's That First Season is the seldom-studied prequel to a phenomenal football career for Vince Lombardi and the Packers, drawing on exhaustive new research and interviews to tell an incredible ensemble tale of a team, a town, and their leader. The once-vaunted Green Bay Packers were a laughingstock by the late 1950s. They hadn't fielded a winning team in more than a decade and were close to losing their franchise to another city. They were in desperate need of a savior, and he arrived in a wood-paneled station wagon in the dead of winter from New York City.

Terrific Content- Amazingly poor narration
Revisado: 08-07-23
Really enjoyed to content and the story. Hard to imagine someone writing a book and allowing the reckless mispronunciation to be as bad as this was. It really took away from the story that was being told. It's as if they pulled someone out of the grocery store and had them read this in the parking lot having never checked the proper names pronunciation of people or towns. Vince would've cringed.

Historia
John Feinstein has already taken listeners into the inner circles of top college basketball programs in The Legends Club. This time, Feinstein pulls back the curtain on college basketball's lesser-known Cinderella stories - the smaller programs who no one expects to win, who have no chance of attracting the most coveted high school recruits, who rarely send their players on to the NBA. Feinstein follows a handful of players, coaches, and schools who dream, not of winning the NCAA tournament but of making it past their first or second round games.

Love the little guys
Revisado: 04-11-20
I enjoy John Feinstein books and I can feel his love for the sport of college basketball in how he tells his stories. I love his historical depth. This book has a couple moments of slowness but overall was very good. I respect his writing but wish he would avoid the little political jabs from time to time. I read his books to escape the daily grind and sometimes feel like he doesn't understand that or appreciate that enough. Overall, I highly recommend this book.

Historia
Most new startups today are in highly regulated industries with strong incumbents - transportation, hotels, drones, energy, gaming, education, health care, cannabis, finance, liquor, insurance. The more startups try to snatch a piece of the establishment's pie, the more they risk running into a political wall. That's where Bradley Tusk comes in. As Tusk writes, "Every new company is essentially a tech startup. And when you disrupt someone in any industry, they don't say thank you. They punch you in the nose.

Terrific book

I found this book to be exceptionally well done and insightful. Glad it was read by author. I don't share his politics but I found the book to be a thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Historia
The Irishman is an epic saga of organized crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked for legendary crime boss Russell Bufalino alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th Century. Spanning decades, Sheeran’s story chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries, and connections to mainstream politics.

Stumbled upon this book

I thought this was an exceptional book written extremely well and captured my attention throughout. I appreciated the painstaking effort to document the facts. One of those books that I'm thrilled i listened to.
