I really enjoyed Boessenecker’s writing on this subject. Having grown up in and around many of the areas mentioned, it was especially interesting. I greatly appreciated his thoroughness in presenting all ‘sides’ of the story.
My one critique of the book is that I do not feel that the extensive coverage given to Civil War history and battles was necessary to the purposes of explaining Black Bart. However, I am a history lover, and I had no problem enjoying the CW parts, I just began to wonder if it was a book about the CW, or Black Bart. -Ha!

Great book, we’ll researched and superbly written.
Don’t understand why sometimes a woman reads for Martha Washington and other times does not - that’s kinda weird. But otherwise, great book!

What an arrogant book of rambling about whatever crosses his mind at the moment.
And.... I happen to live in the Twin Cities...
Where, according to Friedman, rainbows and flowers shine out of even the port-o-potties in the public parks.
This book is utter garbage.
