A beast. An enchantress. An unbreakable curse.... Deep within the sentient woods, Larkin uncovers a secret that puts her in dreadful danger. Worse, now that the beast has had his taste, he’ll never stop hunting her. But the forest has woken something inside Larkin; something that gives her the power to fight back. Magic. Using forbidden magic will get Larkin hanged. Not using it will leave her at the mercy of the beast's enchantment. But there’s a third option; one that scares her more than anything.

Creative, Mysterious, unexpected twists

I loved the world and the tale she spun. She's definitely an adept romance writer, able to make one's heart pound without going all the way through a bedroom scene if you know what I mean. (much appreciated) I only give 4 stars instead of 5 because I didn't love the main character. Her personality grated on my nerves.
A great read, definitely worth it.

Historia
Deep in the heart of the Congo a small baby is adopted by Kala, a fierce anthropoid ape of the tribe of Kerchak. Here, protected by his savage foster mother, Tarzan (for so she named him) learned the secrets of jungle life - how to talk with all animals, how to move like a shadow, how to swing freely through the teeming forest, how to fight barehanded the great carnivores. Here he acquired the strength and agility of his guardian apes, and the same keen sense of smell and sound that all wild creatures need to protect themselves.

They just don't make them like they used to. Though it may not be scientifically sound, it's creativity is superb. Way better than the film adaptations!

Historia
Lyra is rushing to the cold, far North, where witch clans and armored bears rule. North, where the Gobblers take the children they steal—including her friend Roger. North, where her fearsome uncle Asriel is trying to build a bridge to a parallel world. Can one small girl make a difference in such great and terrible endeavors? This is Lyra: a savage, a schemer, a liar, and as fierce and true a champion as Roger or Asriel could want. But what Lyra doesn't know is that to help one of them will be to betray the other.

Amazing story, well-paced, always exciting and vivid in descriptions, masterfully voice-acted; its among the best fantasy I've ever listened to.

Historia
For Durzo Blint, assassination is an art---and he is the city's most accomplished artist, his talents required from alleyway to courtly boudoir. For Azoth, survival is precarious, something you never take for granted. As a guild rat, he's grown up in the slums and learned to judge people quickly---and to take risks. Risks like apprenticing himself to Durzo Blint. But to be accepted, Azoth must turn his back on his old life and embrace a new identity and name.

Dont read if you don't want spoilers

I don't want to read about child rape. What has become of fantasy books nowadays that people feel the need to cross these lines that shouldn't be crossed?

Historia
Everyone loves Mathias. Naturally, when he discovers it’s his destiny to save the world, he dives in headfirst, pulling his best friend, Aaslo, along for the ride. However, saving the world isn’t as easy, or exciting, as it sounds in the stories. The going gets rough, and folks start to believe their best chance for survival is to surrender to the forces of evil, which isn’t how the prophecy goes. At all. As the list of allies grows thin and the friends find themselves staring death in the face, they must decide how to become the heroes they were destined to be.

A Spectacular Read
Revisado: 01-23-21
Absolutely spectacular. A story that takes a nontraditional path and gave me a little whiplash at the unexpected turns. Despite the story having a dark outlook, there's so many humorous moments that I hardly noticed.
As usual from Kel Kade, it's absolutely worth reading, and you may find it hard to stop as I did.
Gotta give props to the reader/voice of the audiobook as well. He gave everyone a distinct personality, and never did I roll my eyes like I usually do when listening to other books.

Wonderous
Revisado: 08-29-18
Simply stunning. I clung to every moment. I would yell encouragement at the main protagonist's inner struggle. I had chills during the scary parts. I gasped, laughed, and cried.
I will wait in agony for the next volume.
