A fascinating story.

I was not disappointed by this fascinating listen into Jung’s mind. It’s a mix of incredible story telling and scientific insight. And I think the narrator was a very good fit, I imagined it was Jung himself telling me about his life.

Historia
In 1957, four years before his death, Carl Gustav Jung, psychiatrist and psychologist, began writing his life story. But what started as an exercise in autobiography soon morphed into an altogether more profound undertaking. The result is an absorbing piece of self-analysis: a frank statement of faith, philosophy, and principles from one of the great explorers of the human mind.

Historia
This is the second edition of a uniquely empowering, international word-of-mouth best seller about wild landscapes, female mythology, and the challenges facing modern women. It is a book for any woman who has ever lost her way and who sees a wasteland at the heart of modern existence and longs to live a more authentic, rooted life once again.

Honest and insightful.
Revisado: 10-16-19
What I deeply appreciated about this book, was that Sharon Blackie is so transparent about her own tangled journey. It’s rather unusual for me to hear an author relay her stumblings and ignorance so frankly. I got annoyed a few times, and then realized I was annoyed because the mistakes she made are familiar to me personally.
I also really loved hearing versions of some of the Celtic myths, particularly those most relevant to women. I appreciated that she named and described a number of women who are doing good work in the world now.
In terms of a critique: A lot of what Blackie says sounded rather clichéd to me. I suppose it’s because I have been reading from a similar genre of books for a long time. And the narrator sounds a bit schoolmarmish, but comforting at times too.

Historia
Surreal and splendidly unconventional, The Hearing Trumpet is an apocalyptic fairy-tale quest about an occult old ladies' home and the spry nonagenarian who ends up there. After coming into possession of a hearing trumpet, 92-year-old Marian Leatherby discovers her son's plans to send her to a nursing home. But this is no ordinary place.... Here there are strange rituals, orgiastic nuns, levitating abbesses, animalistic humans, humanistic animals, a search for the Holy Grail, and a plan to escape to Lapland and knit a tent....

A unique story by a unique mind.

I so much enjoyed this light-hearted, often comical, well-written and skillful story. So entertainingly laying bear the foibles of humanity from the perspective of a ninety-something adventuress.
