Historia
A heroic young thief and her family fight against the darkness that threatens the entire land in the riveting final volume of this fantasy adventure saga. An increasingly talented and skilled shadowthief, Gatina of House Furtius—known in more rebellious circles as the Kitten of Night—continues her covert work in the ongoing struggle against the vile usurper Count Vichetral. Vichetral's dominion over the duchy of Alshar has grown ever darker, with slavery now legal and vicious gangs brutally enforcing his will.

Great Story
Revisado: 04-09-25
Love the series, this one was a great installment.
Unfortunately the narration was not for me.
It's not fair to say things were "mispronounced" in a fantasy series with a bunch of made up magical words... but when the previous narrator has established a way to say a word it's jarring to hear it said differently. Magocracy with a hard G being the worst, which gets "fixed" half way through when suddenly the soft G makes a triumphant return.
In addition the halting cadence is difficult listen to, 1.7x speed helps.
The story is worth it though.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Short but Sweet.
Revisado: 09-26-17
Great series so far, it manages to play out the whole "passing of the mantle" theme without being overly corny.
There are enough grim and dark stories where all the characters die and you're left saying "Well now what!?" This whole series from the beginning plays out like a 90s TV show where you know all the main characters have long contracts. Pure, satisfying "cheer for the good guys" steam punk & magic action.
Personal Prediction: The power of mages relies on their ability to sleep while conscious. To focus and dream while they are mostly awake. It explains some of how they manipulate the world Illusion. You saw it here first!

Excellent dark-ish story. Bit of a batman feel to it. I find it challenging for authors to keep things interesting when the hero is so amazing. Kel kept it on point and I'm impressed. I could have done without the "Predator" nod... but we all get our inspiration from somewhere.
Onto Nick, this guy could read soup labels and I would buy them on audible. I will stay with this story as the books continue, hopefully Nick will stay on the series too!

Dark Adventure
Revisado: 05-25-16
65 hours is a big commitment but I found it was worth it. I normally see plot turns a mile away... this book had a good mix of "Martin" wtf moments and "Tolkien" style triumphs. I loved how there was a clear dark side (nether) and light side (ether) of magic but there was no particular alignment or morality attached to the use of any magic. Casting is uncomplicated which is great. Some ethermancers are slavers while our hero will gladly animate the dead in order to free the enslaved and protect his city state.
Good/bad/life/death/righteousness/fury... it all gets jumbled in a very human experience full of narrow escapes and stupid smirks...
