This was my first T. Kingfisher book and what a surprise. I honestly found the tone a bit odd at first with the unusual amount of internal monolog and wasn't sure what to make of it (Also not sure how much the narrator has been adding to this impression).
I also found that I didn't mind because the story is gripping from the beginning to the end, well paced and with interesting and lovable characters, a unique world and creatures (and an ox) and also this book is so. incredibly. funny.
I had to laugh out loud a lot, I even sat in my car in front of the supermarket once, unable to get out because I was howling of laughter.

At the end of the book the author laid a few breadcrumbs for another story which I really hope one day will come.

The narrator (voice actor) did a really fine job as well in bringing the characters to life and enhanced the experience of the story.

I think this is my favorite book of the year.

I really loved listening to this book.
the author has a great talent to create tension between the couple and the story kept me hooked throughout the whole book, so I definitely want to read the rest of the series as well.

The experience is made perfect by narrator Christin Atherton, who is - in my opinion - the only female narrator so far, that sounds absolutely great even when speaking male voices (and sometimes you wonder if it's really her alone speaking all those voices.)
I really hope the third book will be narrated by her again.

Didn't like female narrators until this. Chapeau!

I really enjoyed this book. The story is beautifully written and captivating, with a romanctic plotline, mysteries to solve, unexpected turns of the story and a great cast of interesting characters.

I think, I'd really liked this book as a print, but the audiobook means experiencing it on a higher level.

I usually don't like listening to female narrators too much, mostly because I'd how they speak male voices.
BUT THIS!
I still can't believe this was all spoken by one and the same person. Kristin Atherton has a beautiful voice to speak all those female characters, but the guys... I'm honestly impressed by the capability of the narrator to change her voice like that. None of the male voices has this cringy "woman lowering her voice and signs funny moments". Death's voice is even utterly sexy!
I want more.
