a little long winded
Revisado: 10-20-20
Practical Magic was better and more original. I don't understand the teen anxt ridden plot and drama. I was never curious about the Owens' background.

With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century.

love the characters
Revisado: 09-02-20
I thought I loved St. James's Haunting of Maddie Claire but this book was better just because the characters were more lively haha punny. I love the two main girls.

Historia
In upstate New York, in the woods around Woodstock, Dutchman's Creek flows out of the Ashokan Reservoir. Steep-banked, fast-moving, it offers the promise of fine fishing, and of something more, a possibility too fantastic to be true. When Abe and Dan, two widowers who have found solace in each other's company and a shared passion for fishing, hear rumors of the Creek, and what might be found there, the remedy to both their losses, they dismiss it as just another fish story.

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

best book of the Century
Revisado: 05-02-19
Zusak's choice of narrator provides listeners with a great objective view of humanity. The characters, minor and major, are all so realistic. This book is able to do what only great literature can do, hold a mirror up to humanity and make us wonder the meaning of human nature.

slow burner and creepy indeed

I love the characters! Lillie's strongest attribute is her ability to develop characters. The story was great but leaves one wondering, will there be a book 2?

Best of King

King's best work. I've tried reading King before but can't bring myself to like his work. This, however, is by far well worth the listen. The characters are dynamic and the suspense is perfect.
