Historia
In a Tokyo suburb, a young man named Toru Okada searches for his wife’s missing cat—and then for his wife as well—in a netherworld beneath the city’s placid surface. As these searches intersect, he encounters a bizarre group of allies and antagonists. Gripping, prophetic, and suffused with comedy and menace, this is one of Haruki Murakami’s most acclaimed and beloved novels.

Complex and outstanding narration And storytelling. Only once every couple of years (although I read several books a week), do I give a book 5 star ratings for all three; story, performance and overall.

I found the narrator’s read difficult to listen. The story started okay but ended with a ridiculous conclusion.

Historia
Millions of people visit xkcd.com each week to read Randall Munroe's iconic webcomic. His stick-figure drawings about science, technology, language, and love have a large and passionate following. Fans of xkcd ask Munroe a lot of strange questions. What if you tried to hit a baseball pitched at 90 percent of the speed of light? How fast can you hit a speed bump while driving and live? If there were a robot apocalypse, how long would humanity last?

Due to the excellent narration, this Trilogy is much easier to listen to than to read . Without the narration I suspect i would have rated this book much lower.

Historia
In his wickedly brilliant first novel, Debut Dagger Award winner Alan Bradley introduces one of the most singular and engaging heroines in recent fiction: Eleven-year-old Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison. It is the summer of 1950 - and a series of inexplicable events has struck Buckshaw, the decaying English mansion that Flavia’s family calls home. A dead bird is found on the doorstep, a postage stamp bizarrely pinned to its beak. Hours later, Flavia finds a man lying in the cucumber patch and watches him as he takes his dying breath.

Flavia’s character is preposterous.
Revisado: 02-09-15
I found this 11 year old, unbelievable, and unlikeable. I did not enjoy her comments about people which were supposed to be clever and funny, but I often thought, just mean. I found the narrator’s unrelenting cheery voice for Flavia, irritating & tiresome. For me, the mystery itself was uninteresting. Flavia’s precociousness is so ridiculous, that I felt the author wanted me to get a grand opinion about himself, rather than this conjured character.

Surprise Ending
Revisado: 02-02-15
I liked the first book much better. The surprise ending elevates my rating from a 2 to a 3.
Unfortunately this is a trilogy which I guess means, this ending is bogus. Too bad. Since I think this is an excellent ending, won't be purchasing the 3rd book.

Revisado: 01-01-15
Despite the magic of the sword, too unbelievable that she, so young and inexperienced and with only rudimentary training, could do what she did. The author did not do enough to convince me of the outcome.
The history of the sword was the most enjoyable part of the story for me.

Historia
Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place. Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes.

Doe not address the questions I ponder about Auri
Revisado: 12-29-14
The book describes what she does during a day and how she thinks about objects in her surroundings. It is a book of the present. I had hoped it would answer questions about her and her past--how she got where she is, how she acquired the knowledge she has, why she is alone, how long has she been alone, what about her family--but none of these questions are addressed. She is as much a mystery as she was before I read this book. This is titled Book 2.5 of the Kingkiller Chronicle, yet I feel it added nothing to the tale.
At the beginning of the book Patrick Rothfuss suggests readers might not like the book. At the end of the book, Rothfuss sounds embarrassed and apologetic for this published work, and I felt he was makes excuses for why it was published. This immaturity is startling, and especially so since I feel his story characters are incitefull and mature--one of many reasons why I find Rothfuss an outstanding author.
