Historia
Zachary Ezra Rawlins is a graduate student in Vermont when he discovers a mysterious book hidden in the stacks. As he turns the pages, entranced by tales of lovelorn prisoners, key collectors, and nameless acolytes, he reads something strange: a story from his own childhood. Bewildered by this inexplicable book and desperate to make sense of how his own life came to be recorded, Zachary uncovers a series of clues - a bee, a key, and a sword.

Best book I've read in a LONG time!
Revisado: 07-22-21
Good books are plentiful, but every so often you stumble upon a true gem. Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, Illusions by Richard Bach, fall neatly into my gem classification. My last great read, The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern, has been added to a place of distinction on my bookshelf.
The story begins with a graduate student exploring obscure areas of his beloved university library. Zachary Ezra Rawlins, as he’s formally referred to throughout the book, checks out an old, authorless book. Zackary is stunned as he begins reading about a long-forgotten childhood memory and suspects that this book is about himself, but the book is stolen before he has a chance to read beyond the opening chapter to confirm his suspicion. With mysterious factors in play, he encounters many obstacles as he sets out to find the book and its author.
Woven into the main plot of The Starless Sea are many unique narratives transcending time and space as well as good versus evil. There’s a degree of plausibility built into the central story, while the sub-stories delve deeply into fantasy. In this fantasy realm we discover an underworld library housing all the great stories, an ancient secret society that protects the world’s stories, doors that open to different times and dimensions to tell their own stories, and many other engrossing paths that often seem like a disconnected entanglement yet come together beautifully in the end.
While The Starless Sea perhaps lacks the inspired insights from my other favorite gems, it has a heartfelt theme about love and acceptance that make it a worthy gem. This magical story with its captivating cast of characters and ethereal scenes will transport you into The Starless Sea.

You're in for a wild ride!

I read (listened) to the Bobiverse series TWICE. I found it extremely entertaining, 100% original, and a lot of fun to learn about all the Bobs. I have since read all of Taylor's other works, he and Porter make a great team. I eagerly await new books from Taylor.

Historia
I’m an occultist living in a haunted brownstone in upstate New York. The building is a ghostly double-image of itself, like a picture painted brightly over an older, weirder picture. It’s an equinox place, my mother once said, where dark and light things are equally in power. I want to tell you, dear strangers, why I was there and what I found.

Just "binge" listened to all three Magician books. So good! Sorry that it's over. Now I'm going to need to find something equally as good.
