Historia
One day, in a peaceful lizardman village, an ominous messenger visits with a warning from the Great Tomb of Nazarick: In eight days' time, they will be annihilated. Unwilling to stand by and wait, the fighter and traveler Zaryusu journeys to the other lizardman tribes--who have received the same message--hoping to form an alliance against their impossibly strong opponent. But though the warriors try valiantly to resist, Ainz Ooal Gown and his undead army hold the power to determine their fate...

Volume 4 of the best Isekai series
Revisado: 05-10-22
A satire set in a grand dark fantasy world. In volume 4, Ainz (Undead Overlord of the Great Tomb of Nazarick and former salaryman), begins his conquest of the New World. First up, The Lizardmen Heroes! Defenders of their tribes, can these great warriors stand against Nazarick?
Of course not. But they can try.
Maruyama’s love of fantasy and of RPGs shines through as always. Well worth reading, or listening.

Solid RPGLit Harem Fantasy
Revisado: 05-02-22
Have you ever played Skyrim with all of the follower romance and multi follower mods plus a selection of mods from other sites? Turned it into a harem building and world conquest game?
Craig is Isekaid into that sort of world. He builds his harem, spends his ability points, and figures out his quest. It makes for a quick enjoyable read, with an interesting cast, some good world building, a few twists, some bloody violence, and a lot of explicit sex.
If that appeals to you, this title is recommended.

One of the best volumes in a great series
Revisado: 03-23-22
Ainz, Supreme Ruler of the Great Tomb of Nazarik, must tackle his greatest challenges to date in this third volume of Overlord. Dry comedy, plenty of action, and even notes of genuine drama abound in one of the best Isekai series. Very highly recommended for fans of fantasy and RPGs. This series really is the gold standard for Japanese RPG adventures. Worth your time.

Police procedural meets Monster Girl Romance
Revisado: 03-17-22
Another fun one from Cebelius. Can a cop at the height of his career in an urban fantasy city love an ambitious fem fatale who happens to be a spider? Eventually, and the road there takes us through a darn good cop show. Several explicit scenes, and like all of Cebelius’ work there’s a solid story around them. Worth your time.

Excellent Fantasy Series plus Harem Isekai
Revisado: 09-29-21
The Celestine books are a fun tongue in cheek fantasy, Isekai, and Harem series. All three are done surprisingly well.
The Mountain King Saga looks at the rise of Abram, a full on Evil Master Wizard from Earth in the early 21st Century. Abram has read enough Fantasy and played enough RPGs to know what not to do, and his struggles with his own mental health add surprising dramatic weight to his story.
If you are a fan of the Overlord light novels or Anime, Dungeon Keeper type games, or Isekai, this is a great listen or read.
There is explicit sex. Quite a lot of it. This is also a Harem story. If that’s something you don’t want, this is not what you’re looking for.
Otherwise very much worth your time.

This story of an RPG addicted salaryman turned other-world conquering anti-hero started as a web novel and has held up beautifully as a light novel, an anime, a manga, and now an audiobook. Full of surprisingly compelling characters, an amazingly detailed world, and very dark humor. Well worth your time.

One of Gemmell’s earliest, one of the best
Revisado: 04-04-18
Gemmell would return many times to the themes and elements in Knights of Dark Renown. A child of power finding his destiny. A story teller turning villains into heroes. A simple man becoming a legend. Women to walk the mountains with. Gemmell would eventually polish and greatly refine the mythology of his shared multi-verse, but we would continue to hear the legends of the Knights (or possibly their alternate selves) through the Drenai saga. Worth reading both on its own merits and to give insight into Gemmell’s other work.
The reader does a good job overall, with only a few slips that don’t detract much from the experience.
Highly recommended.

Beautiful story missing last chapter
Revisado: 08-23-17
Waylander II has long been one of my favorites. The story is Gemmell at his best, and this performance is excellent. However, the final chapter and epilogue are missing from this adaptation. The story ends on a flat note at the end of chapter 19. I highly recommend the original book, or the Kindle version. While I enjoyed this adaptation as far as it went, without the ending, I was very disappointed.

Historia
In you are fan of action—adventure movies with the accent on action—then you no doubt love watching Jackie Chan risk his life to create sensational cinema. As one of the biggest stars to burst into U.S. theaters, Jackie has put America's hottest heroes to shame, wowing audiences with the breathless death-defying stunts that are the highlight of such movies as Rumble in the Bronx, Supercop, Operation: Condor, and his newest blockbuster Rush Hour. But who really is the boyishly handsome, lightening-fast Charlie Chaplin of martial arts movie making?

A good listen, a great story
Revisado: 12-19-16
What did you love best about I Am Jackie Chan?
Just finished listening to "I am Jackie Chan", the abridged audiobook version of Chan's autobiography. It's missing some of my favorite stories from the much re-read version that has had its place on my shelves for so long, but it was still a good listen. I'd become a fan of Chan's movies after having been introduced to them by a friend with a passion for martial arts and Chinese cinema. Chan was more accessible than Bruce Lee, with a sense of humor that came through in and complimented his over the top stunt work. There were actors in Hong Kong Cinema who made me laugh more, or who were better fighters, or were telling better stories, but there was something about Chan's silliness that almost always made me happy to spend a few hours watching a man fall down a building or run up a wall. And he really was, at that point in his career, falling down buildings, risking death to get a laugh. That was part of the deal he made with his audience. I've never liked his Hollywood films, but his work in HK even today often has a bit of magic. I'll still watch. There are lessons to be found looking at any life, most of them reminders of things we already know, but then learning often requires review of old information so as to link to new. "I am Jackie Chan" isn't a great book. Chan shares few deep insights about his extraordinary path, or the amazing people he met along the way. But it has been an extraordinary path. I still enjoyed glancing down along it. The hard copy versions are highly recommended. The audiobook version is a pleasant listen. Daxing Zhang's reading shows personality and a fondness for the material, and I'm glad I took the time to hear this story again.

Jolene is pulled out of her ordinary life into mystery, danger, and romance. A fun Summer listen. Stacey LaTorre's prose style is engaging, and Anna Castiglioni's reading shows both real affection for the characters and excellent vocal range. I'd recommend it for any fan of romance with light mystery and action moving the story along.
