Keeps you on the edge of your seat!!!
Revisado: 08-22-20
It kept my interest, especially toward the end. It was well written and I began to hang on to every word, waiting to see what would happen next. The narration was wonderful. It doesn’t always work out when the writer narrates their own book but Joshilyn knows how to bring her characters to life. It’s been a long time since I’ve listened to an audio book that I liked as much as this one.

Historia
Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: She must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful 13-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims - a bit too strongly.

Dark and intriguing
Revisado: 08-09-18
I’m a person who much prefers comedy to drama, however, once I started listening, I was hooked. Munchausen and cutting oneself are two things I don’t understand. I don’t know if there are answers, real answers why people do this. Anyway, I’m not sure why but once I started listening, I couldn’t stop until I got to the end. The narrator was perfect. It was like someone was telling you a secret all the way through. I would recommend this book to anyone even if your preference is comedy or romance.

Historia
Elementary school teacher Jacqueline "Jacks" Morales's marriage was far from perfect, but even in its ups and downs it was predictable, familiar. Or at least she thought it was...until two police officers showed up at her door with devastating news. Her husband of eight years, the one who should have been on a business trip to Kansas, had suffered a fatal car accident in Hawaii. And he wasn't alone.

Just O.K
Revisado: 11-21-17
The story was just ok. The narrator uses the same voice for every character and it is too little girly. It might have been alright for Dylan because she is young and innocent, if you disregard the fact that she is having an affair with an older man.
She needs to take voice lessons from Amanda Ronconi or Kate Reading. They are both great story tellers and know how to change their voices for each character.

Incredible, it touched my heart and my soul.
Revisado: 02-20-16
What did you love best about The Life We Bury?
The main character. He was so committed to the task at hand. He wouldn't give up. That he cared so deeply for the old man, his brother and his girlfriend.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes. We went on a trip and it took us about 5 hours to get home. My earbuds were in except when we stopped to eat and get gas.
Which character – as performed by Zach Villa – was your favorite?
When he was Joe. I have now added him to my short list of favorite narrators.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The old cliché, " You can't judge a book by it's cover".
Any additional comments?
I usually listen to books that make me laugh or are just lighthearted, stupid even. While listening I not only didn't laugh, I felt anxious, sad, hoping that the hero would win out. I loved the book and felt compelled to keep listening. At the end I felt like sobbing, I didn't because I didn't want to explain to my husband why I was crying. It touched me in so many ways that I couldn't even sort out all my feelings. I will recommend this book because it is so well written and just touches your heart.

Historia
When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

This one was a flop.
Revisado: 09-19-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I didn't finish it because it was too confusing. Molly Harper writes fun and funny books. Amanda Ronconi is a wonderful narrator and helps to make the books more enjoyable. She puts more life into the characters and the story. All of Molly Harper's other books are written in the first person and are a delight. This one was written in the 3rd person and that just isn't her strong suit. It was confusing, trying to keep the characters straight. I just got lost and stopped listening. I waited for this book to be released because I liked her other books so much, however, this one was disappointing. I won't give up, in fact, I am listening to the other books a second time and loving them as much as I did the first time.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I'm not sure. I like light and funny. Guess I'll have to take a chance on another author as I have listened to all of Molly Harper's books.
Which scene was your favorite?
Didn't have one.
Do you think Better Homes and Hauntings needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. She needs to find something else to write about and write it in the first person.

Historia
Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town and a media punch line....

I have a new favorite author - Molly Harper
Revisado: 09-17-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend this book to a friend, if I knew she was someone who just enjoyed colorful characters and a kick-ass female who isn't afraid to say what she thinks and in a very humorous way. If she wanted to listen to a book "Just for Fun."
What did you like best about this story?
The dialogue was fast paced and really funny. I have listened to her Werewolf books and really liked them because they were NOT scary and contained lots of humor. With this book she outdid herself. It was even better than the others and they were really good. I like the way she writes, it keeps your attention and is entertaining and you find yourself smiling or laughing all the time. I'm glad that it ended well and she wasn't bitter. It's like, whatever, and I'm just going to go on with my life.
What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
What a wonderful narrator, I can't think of anyone who could do a better job. She brings the characters to life and I'm sure makes the book even funnier than it would have been if you just read it. For the female characters she is excellent, she just needs a little work on her male characters. Make them sound more like men rather than a women with a sore throat. I probably shouldn't have said that because overall she gets a A+.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
It wasn't that kind of book. It was just a good romp, funny, sweet and makes you wish it wouldn't end.
Any additional comments?
Her books are in the area of Romance, but they could be in the Humor section as well.

Good,but more sadness than usual.
Revisado: 03-22-13
If you could sum up Burnt Mountain in three words, what would they be?
Amazing but sad.
If you’ve listened to books by Anne Rivers Siddons before, how does this one compare?
I love her books but this was not her best.It did hold my interest but I did cry a lot. My favorites are Faults Lines and Nora Nora, there are two other but they don't come to mind this minute.
What does Kate Reading bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Kate Reading voice. It is lyrical, magical. She can do many voices and you believe she is really that person. I wish she could narrate every book. When I have listened to other books by Siddons, it is not the same if Kate Reading doesn't read them.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Many, it makes you think that Ms. Siddons has had a lot of loss in her life. You can't write about it the way she does unless you have experienced it. You would like to beat the mother. The mother is always terrible or missing in all her books.
Any additional comments?
This review may sound a little negative but I'm not sorry I bought it.

Improved golf game
Who was your favorite character and why?
No characters, just inspiring information.
What about Dr. Joseph Parent’s performance did you like?
Loved his voice, it is very soothing. This is a case where the author should read his own book.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
A lot of "aha" moments and a lot of knowing that what he said is the truth and I should put it into practice.
Any additional comments?
Listening to this book, which I have done more than once, and putting what he says into practice has improved my golf game. Thanks, Dr. Parent.
