Cornwell great narrator, the other guy not.

Bernard Cornwell turns out to have a great voice and pace for narration, so it’s a treat to hear him at the start of the book (preface, etc.), although why on earth can’t he pronounce Blucher’s name correctly?
What a let down when the rest of the book is read by a light-voiced narrator who has none of the gravitas of Cornwell, and can’t pronounce French names to save his life. Couldn’t someone have advised him on this? The book itself is a great and thorough introduction to the battle. I wish the author had done all the reading.

In this world of bribes, vendettas, and swindling, in which heiresses are gambled and won, Trollope's characters embody all the vices: Lady Carbury is 'false from head to foot'; her son Felix has 'the instincts of a horse, not approaching the higher sympathies of a dog'; and Melmotte - the colossal figure who dominates the book - is a 'horrid, big, rich scoundrel...a bloated swindler...a vile city ruffian'. But as vile as he is, he is considered one of Trollope's greatest creations.

This woman cannot read. Unbearable. Reads as if she doesn’t understand what she’s saying, and mispronounces words. Terrible.
