A snooze fest

I usually don't like to crap on other people's work but this was such a boring disappointment. For example, the first 2 hours of the audiobook is a step by step detail of his ancestors and birth and childhood up to high school. And maynards low-volume monotone 30 second side notes don't do anything to help. I've only ever returned 1 book in my life, this will be the second.

A great start to a series

A great start to a series. RJs characters are loveable and I'm excited to see if the next book incorporates more magic(sorcery).

Couldn't put it down. The author has a talent for keeping your interest and for making you love his characters (even if you initially think you wont like those characters). Brilliant job.

From an author that puts out A+ books every single time, it was kinda disappointing to have such a mediocre story. It didnt grab me like his other books in fact I had to listen to this twice in a row because I missed so much the first time. And since I'm reviewing the audio book, I have to say that the audio levels are horrible. Thrawn amd vaders voices are so low that I have to put my speaker on full blast which of course means that every other voice is too loud. Between the bad audio levels and the stupid sound effects that drown out the narrative, I'm beginning to really hate star wars audio books.

Another amazing installment in the series!

I'm loving the drake books more and more. I sure hope Peter McLean keeps adding to the series. Mark meadows was back for the third time and did a great job narrating as usual.

My favorite book

This is probably my favorite book. I'm happy they finally made an unabridged audio book. I thought the narrator was average. Nothing special. Id prefer the other narrator of most of the bob lee swagger series (buck schoner) but Jon did good.

Such a great second book to the series. I don't do plot summaries in my reviews but if you liked the first book you'll love this too. Amazing narration too.

This one was just meh for me. it was all over the place. it wasn't so bad that I couldn't finish it but the story wasn't that great either. A whole lot of nothing happened. Just meh

Im not going to give a plot synopsis. Timothy Zahn is great. Marc is great as always. But the sound effects need to be addressed.(which doesnt affect my rating because its not zahns or thompsons fault) Im so sick of sound effects in star wars audiobooks. At one point, in a forest setting, theres a constant sound of 100 crickets...for a full 12 minutes. Loud enough to drown out the narration. At another point, the book literally describes an annoying, pervasive sound. And of course they put in a sound effect for this annoying sound. Another time they put in a sound of a screeching walkie talkie. Stop putting stupid sound effects in our audiobooks. Am I seriously the only person annoyed at this?
