I like this love story of long ago. The research is all authentic and the characters real, especially the orphans. And Chloe ends up with the perfect husband! You’ll enjoy this one! 💞

Boring boring boring
Revisado: 05-13-24
How can anyone focus on such talented writers and turn it into a yawn fest? She leaps from one subject to another until the readers/listeners haven’t a damned clue who she is referencing. Clumsy and inept.
A huge disappointment. Huge.

This must be intended for twelve year olds. I wasted a credit on it, assuming it was one of GLH’s jazz age romances.

Historia
It's Christmas and the well-born guests who have gathered at Applecross for a delicious weekend of relaxation are warmed by roaring fires, mistletoe, and gorgeously wrapped gifts. It's scarcely the setting for misfortune, and no one - not even that clever young aristocrat and budding sleuth Vespasia Cumming-Gould - anticipates the tragedy that is to darken this light-hearted holiday house party. But soon one young woman lies dead, a suicide, and Vespasia must uncover the heartbreaking truth behind the tragedy.

Enthralling and Totally Absorbing!
Revisado: 01-21-24
First of all and upfront, I don’t ordinarily read crime and mystery. But I felt the lure of Anne Perry and now I can’t get enough.
Her structure is meticulous, each word contributing to the whole. She literally builds on her story so the more that’s revealed, the more the tension builds to the ultimate climax.
It’s the underlying, unwritten meaning that blew me right out of the water; the integrity of a difficult promise, the integrity of relationships, most of all, the integrity to ourselves. That’s an incredible weighty theme to take on in a very short book. Yet this is what I’ll always remember about ‘A Christmas Journey’.
This review would not be complete without mention of the sublime narrator, Terence Hardiman, a completely believable voice.
One of the best books I’ve read in a very long time.

Exciting and plausible
Revisado: 11-21-23
Believable characters are caught up in magic beyond comprehension, this is an exciting venture into the past.
It’s really a fun ride, as most of Smith’s books are. With humor and heat in equal parts, you’ll get a kick out of this one.

The narrator was versatile and easy to listen to and with all that was happening, it fit together perfectly.

A new SciFi Romance writer! Yes!!
Revisado: 10-05-23
I enjoyed the characters and storyline. It was a sweet romance.
It was missing excitement, which is why I didn’t give it a perfect five star score. They’re in outer space with who knows what lurking behind every star. Good stories should offer a little scare and rescue.
I really liked it that there was no instasex, Thank you for that. And there wasn’t pages and pages of the tedious descriptions of what they did in bed. Another pleasant surprise.
I’m giving this a thumbs up s d a recommendation to read it. It’s worth the credit.
I’m going to get the next book in the series.

Creative, Unique!
Revisado: 08-17-23
An unusual story with incredible world building and strong characters. There’s rather thrilling drama, as well.
The narrator is also super talented. She provided great voices for each character.
The plot is original and some of the story leaves the reader to provide the details, including the ending. I’m actually quite welcoming of it, since you know it will be alright for the two main characters. Anything can happen because they’ll be together.
I do recommend it for those who enjoy the unique.

A HUGE disappointment ☹️
Revisado: 08-14-23
Nothing like Clan of the Cavebear books. Nothing! Everyone hates each other. Everyone kills each other. That’s about it.
The narrator is a hoot. She’s all upper crust English accent. It does NOT match the violent, head splitting life of the fiendish barbarians.
The tension is all wound up like a tight string and yet it never goes anywhere.
I expected a story, one with a plot. Super disappointed.

A few good ones but not this one
Revisado: 08-09-23
Stoker needs an editor who will tell her where she needs to pick it up for a re-edit or a polish. Or even a do over.
She has written a few good stories and that’s what I’m always looking for, of course. She’s got the ability but not the real push needed to hit a winner every time.
There was a ton of unnecessary small talk included here that caused me to believe she was filling in her word count. In audible, it’s a great way to put listeners to sleep.
Don’t waste your credit on this one.
