Really enjoyable listen

Ya, its long. As a few other reviewers have mentioned there are a lot of details, long conversations and internal thoughts of these characters that take a lot of time between action segments. But because of that, the characters are very well developed and understood. I like the detailed character development in stories, and with so many people in the Harrington epic it does fill a lot of the book; but I can feel I know the characters and understand their lives. Really a good listen, and a good story.

Surprisingly delightful

Well written. I was worried in the beginning, but it took a unique turn, soon I couldn't get enough. Looking forward to continuing this story.

Surprising, delightful,, awesome story continues

Terry Mancour continues to surprise and delight me with truly unexpected twists, just when you think you know where the story will go, it takes a unexpected but believable and well thought out twist. Characters are well developed, with honest and believable feelings and face issues I can relate to well. The choice of language makes the story feel real, as I found from page 1 of book 1, each word seems perfectly chosen. All this brought to life by John Lee who performs the story with great expression and enthusiasm.

Terry Mancour develops well thought out characters, with believable life and personality. A whole community of people, and real life lessons very well thought out.

Bad version of great audiobook

I loved this story when I first bought it. While that was 10 years ago, when I signed up for audible I was promised (still have the e-mail) that titles could be re-listened to forever. All seemed true, book 1 worked fine, but this and the next 2 had "database error" in place of a download. To Audibles credit they gave me credits for the 3 failed files, so I could buy the current versions. I can't stand the new narrating / performance. Its hard to here, and very depressing. Really ruined the story. I'll be on the lookout for the Cameron Beierly read version published in the books in motion studios. I will immediately download all my titles and may consider going back to physical media instead of Audible - TBD.

Good story well perf0, excellent humor in the right places, but the choice of words is exceptional. Makes you feel as if its real even knowing its a fantasy.

Enjoyable

What made the experience of listening to Survival of the Fittest the most enjoyable?

Not the best of Kellerman's work, but a good part of Alex's story. As always, reading by Mr. Adams is top notch. I enjoyed it, I think I may be a bit spoiled by some of the others in the series. Dont miss it if you like the series; but dont judge the series by this story.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

A bit predictable, no real surprises. An attempt at suspense but it lacked something many of Kellerman's others have.

Have you listened to any of Alexander Adams’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not the star of the series, but not bad either.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not quite all of it; but I did look forward to getting back to it.

Excelent Addition to the series

I don't find the detailed descriptions and background uninteresting as others have reviewed, it helps make a full bodied story. Characters are well developed, and the story fits nicely as a prequel to the series. Listening was a true pleasure.

A Great Story

Well worth a listen. Definitly get the unabridged version (too bad audible doesn't have the 2nd book unabridged, had to order it elsewhere, perhaps this has been fixed by the time you read this). Well developed characters, a good plot with lots of detail and surprises. One of my favorites, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
