Historia
When a K9 search-and-rescue team discovers a woman's body tangled up with debris in the river, Scotland Yard superintendent Duncan Kincaid finds himself heading an investigation fraught with complications. The victim, Rebecca Meredith, was a talented but difficult woman with many admirers - and just as many enemies. An Olympic contender on the verge of a controversial comeback, she was also a high-ranking detective with the Met - a fact that raises a host of political and ethical issues in an already sensitive case.

Not a Scarpetta great read
Revisado: 12-01-23
I love the complete scene that Patricia Cornwell creates with her novels from the smell of the soap to the feel of a sweater against Scarpetta’s skin and in this regard the book was on point I felt immersed in Scarpetta’s world however the story was a loosely knitted jumble of ideas, current events and talking points. The narrator was decent in all other aspects but her portrayal of Lucy in the voice of an annoying teenaged girl was by far the worst sin this book committed.

Excellent story and performance
Revisado: 10-29-23
Loved the imagery of the Highlands and well woven past and present story lines. The performance was flawless and added such depth and richness to the story. My favorite Kincaid and James so far.

Strike at his best
Revisado: 10-13-23
The Cormoran Strike novels have an incredible ability to transport me to London and elsewhere with the rich and immersive tapestry the words of author conjure. At times the story has pin holes but the overall story and the narration is superb. The story of a cult was timely and held my interest as did the personal stories of Strike and Robin. Another solid outing for JKR.

Trigger warnings needed for animal cruelty and abuse !!!
Revisado: 05-09-23
Please include warnings when there is animal cruelty and abuse!!!! This writer apparently makes that a staple of his works and it’s a casual cruelty that adds nothing to the story previously I managed to get through one boom with multiple instances of fast forwarding with yet another book with more of the same I’m done.

Not the worst
Revisado: 01-18-21
This is my second Rick Mofina and part of my review is based on the story and partly on the narration. First for the story it’s a decent story not overly predictable I did cringe every time a child victim’s mother was referred to as a “welfare” mother as if this was an acceptable way to describe anyone, it was an instant turn off for me. As for the narrator he seems to have two voices one super irritating voice for women and a Rocky Balboa/ Brooklyn accent for anyone of any other ethnic group. Overall the story is decent and well it’s a free read so why not.

As always, Reacher has no particular place to go, and all the time in the world to get there. One morning he ends up in a town near Pleasantville, Tennessee. But there’s nothing pleasant about the place. In broad daylight Reacher spots a hapless soul walking into an ambush. “It was four against one” . . . so Reacher intervenes, with his own trademark brand of conflict resolution. The man he saves is Rusty Rutherford, an unassuming IT manager, recently fired after a cyberattack locked up the town’s data, records, information . . . and secrets.

Tedious
Revisado: 11-15-20
After years of being a huge Jack Reacher fan I’ve literally had to force myself to finish the last two books. This last one I thought was a one off however The Sentinel clinched it and the series has become wicked tedious and derivative. There were a few glimpses of what made Jack Reacher an interesting read but not enough to make look forward to the next book unfortunately.

Complete waste of time
Revisado: 02-10-18
I could barely wait to finish this book before writing a review. My head hurts from rolling my eyes so much. It’s early in the year but this one is setting the bar high for worst book of the year. It was beyond patronizing and predictable with a main character so unbelievable as a competent CIA analyst as to rate being a fantasy book. Can I be more clear that I absolutely hated this book! If you like romance suspense such as a Lifetime or Hallmark movie type you might get through this book with a little less hate than I did but you’ll still feel like this author had no concept of how the CIA or FBI or for that matter any government agency works. The female lead character was possibly the dumbest character I’ve read to date to even have a job much less one as an
analyst. Complete waste of time.

Historia
Murder. Scandal. Politics. And one billionaire heiress so dangerous in so many ways. An explosive Lucas Davenport thriller from number one New York Times best-selling author John Sandford. All hell has broken loose in the capital. An influential state senator has been caught with something very, very nasty on his office computer. The governor can’t believe it - the senator’s way too smart for that, even if he is from the other party. Something’s not right.

Phoned this one in
Revisado: 05-12-13
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Maybe I'm spoiled by some of the previous Prey series and other John Sanford books but this wouldn't be something I'd recommend to a friend. This book had no mystery, no suspense and little to no character development. This book felt like a prequel to some other book in the future and could have been contained in a paragraph. I was bored early on and found my self wishing for the end. The female characters in the series have always left something to be desired in their development but this was the worst. The constant references to excess and wealth are becoming more than tiresome and add nothing to the characters nor the story and actually prevent me from liking most of the character in this book. I'd recommend a Virgil Flowers book to a friend certainly not this book.
Has Silken Prey turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, not at all there are natural highs and lows within any series but this was a defiantly one of the very lows.
What about Richard Ferrone’s performance did you like?
He gives Lucas Davenport a believable voice.
Did Silken Prey inspire you to do anything?
Yes, to long for the next Virgil Flowers book! I'm defiantly finding myself drawn more to that series than the Prey books of late. The characters are a lot more interesting and I actually like them, I'm beginning to find Lucas, Weather and the lot to be very boring and tedious.
