Historia
Authors Robin Moore and Michael Lennon team up in this exciting new novel to tell the "fictionalized" stories of the men who have risked it all for the U.S.A.: the Green Berets. They take us from firefights on the Cambodian border during the Vietnam War to the streets and alleyways of Iraq today. They teach us what it was really like to patrol the streets of Mogadishu in the days of Black Hawk Down. They show the horror that was Saddam's Iraq during the first Gulf War. They take us to the moonscape that is Afghanistan in search of the Taliban. The Wars of the Green Berets continues the saga of Moore's classic The Green Berets, revealing more than a few tantalizing secrets and anecdotes for the first time.

Good book. Horrible narrator.
Revisado: 01-26-25
Please get a narrator familiar with military acronyms. It was tedious. The stories were good. A bit scattered at times. The narrator made it even more difficult. Get this in print form rather than this audio version.

I should have stopped at the second book.

The narrator is HORRIBLE. The first two books were amazing. This one. I made it to chapter ten. I tried.

Historia
This book presents the fullest account yet written of the impact of Hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Rooted in a wealth of oral histories, it tells the dramatic but underreported story of a people who confronted the unprecedented devastation of sixty five thousand homes when the eye wall and powerful northeast quadrant of the hurricane swept a record thirty-foot storm surge across a seventy-five-mile stretch of unprotected Mississippi towns and cities. James Patterson Smith takes us through life and death accounts of storm day, August 29, 2005, and the precarious days of food and water shortages that followed. Along the way the narrative treats us to inspiring episodes of neighborly compassion and creative responses to the greatest natural disaster in American history

Story was great.
Revisado: 05-18-24
Great book to hear the story of Mississippi during Katrina and the recovery. A lot of statistics and numbers. Loved the personal stories. Excessive use of the words “however”, “moreover”, to the point that it could become a drinking game.

Historia
Actor Mahershala Ali performs the gripping tale of an armed band of Confederate deserters and slaves living in a mixed-race community who rose up against the Confederate Cavalry in 1863 to form their own republic, free of slavery, in what is now the state of Mississippi. The community they formed - and the ambiguous racial identity of their descendants - confounded the rules of the segregated South well into the 20th century.

When narrating a book about the South, please learn the pronunciation of the cities!!
Revisado: 12-06-23
I made it to Chapter 5 before becoming utterly annoyed by the pronunciation of Mobile, Alabama by the narrator. Anyone not familiar with geography and the United States should at least take the time to learn the correct pronunciation for something which they are being paid to record.
